Its 2:10am Monday morning. We just got home from a
long week at the Nevada County Fair. Our booth,
"Shake, Rattle & Roll" featured our "rattle" can
posters. Our posters resemble the style and
techniques that Bob Ross uses on his Public access
show. (I know, He's dead)

For the whole week, we would arrive at 9:am, and
leave at, get this; anywhere from 11:pm to 12:30a
The people of Butler Amusements were very kind to
us, they even bought some of our paintings. These
Carneys are some of the nicest people, a close
knit family, sort of like; Letterheads. Most of
them needed a shave, and all of them needed a
shower. No teeth. Dirty clothes. Rode hard, all
for that almighty dollar.

Who am I, that I should talk? I was after that
same dollar. On average, we used about ten cans
of spray paint a day to produce about thirty
pintings. In the beginning, when I first started
all I would do is outer`space scenes, but now, we
can do alot more. Complete paintings, just like
you know who, Bob Ross.

We found Nemo! One of our posters featured an
aquatic scene with, none other than, Nemo. We
thought that with the new "Finding Nemo" cartoon
from Disney, we could cash in on some of their
sales. I had never even heard of a fargin clown
fish, let alone seen the movie. I would hear from
the small kids, "Look Mommy, its Nemo, and I
would say, "We found Nemo."

...to be continued
"must sleep"

Some of you real old timers may remember the great Duke Ash who spent his lifetime traveling with the circus and carnivals.

I had the privilege of meeting Duke back in 1954. He decorated circus wagons and painted some of the wonderful pictorials on the canvas drops for carnival side shows. Besides being an extremely talented sign artist, he was a wonderful person who was willing to share his knowledge with other sign people. He lived his life to the fullest. It's a shame he is not alive today as he would surely be a wealth of knowledge in the Letterhead community.

As Jerry knows, I also knew Duke Ash who last worked at Deggeler Attractions in Stuart Florida. His work for pictorials and animals was unreal. After his death from cancer, his replacement was taken over by Michael Saint, my long time friend and business partner in everything from racecars to sharing a castle in the 60's right up to working for both Conklin shows and Deggeler. We worked the Canadian show circuit from C.N.E. to Calgery Stampede and down into the Arizona state fair and over to the Youth Fair in southern Florida. Working those circuits were fantastic and the knowledge learned from working with people can't be beat anywhere. Where else can you make that kind of money legally and the experience is priceless [Smile]

Heres a shot of our booth. It was kind of a spurr
of the moment thing. If you notice the big tubes
in front; that was the vacuum system I came up
with. Those fumes are the only draw`back to doing
these type of paintings. Oh! Heres the pic.

 -

It was also the first time I used "Fusion". Its
hard to know where it will work best. It doesn't
work on raw banners, it does however, work on
straight on plotter vinyl. Go figure? Heres
another shot.

 -

I still haven't recovered yet. Sunday night,
actually Monday morning, we satrted to dismantel
the boothe, and didn't get home till 2:00am.
which rounded off the week with about 100 hours
for the both of us. I'm a walking zombie these
last two days. How`about another pic?
