I just put some vinyl lettering on a van window with a shreaded letter type font. I can see the first time the guy goes out to wash it he'll start scraping the vinyl "tips" off the letters. In the past I've dabbed a bit of clear on tips to prevent this but with every letter having multiple tips all over thats not a good option. I'm thinking of using a big clear piece of vinyl and covering the entire set of letters. Any words of wisdom and what has worked for you folks?

That will happen even when he uses a squeegee or chamois. I've noticed that on some cars I decaled for a dealer and the prep guys get to aggressive with the chamois. What I've done is to nip the tiny spears or tiny ends off so that the ends are squared or rounded, that way they don't get caught when he is wiping or spraying.

A better solution would be to print it on to clear or see through vinyl.

Can you round the tips?

I've never seen shredded lettering so I'm guessing in the dark.

Mike.....Shreded Letters are what a true Letterhead has for breakfast, instead of Shredded Wheat!

Also, instead of waiting for him to ruin them, you could provide some sort of notice explaining proper care of window graphics so he knows how to wash them.

Hand him a sheet of care instructions and maybe even a "Seal-It" (edge sealer) pen and say "Have fun! and remember: replacements will be full cost!" [Smile]

I round sharp corners whenever possible and for times I cannot (because it may detract from the look of the graphics) I cover myself with the care sheet!
