Just got back from traveling the six provinces of Canada. My pal Roger McMunn asked me to come along with him across the beautiful country of Canada. We stopped in at Pat Welter's Letterhead meet in Unity, Sk. Had a great time, wonderful people. Almost blown away be a near tornado on the last night. Went all the way to B.C. where we picked up a load of cedar for Roger's sandblasted signs.
On the way back we went to Renfew, Ont. to Shirley's Letterhead meet. Another wonderful experience. They even had a street festival going on. Shirley's shop is on Main St. and we got to see it all.

My observations are that it never felt like I crossed a boarder. The people were the same no matter where we were. The music, TV and fast food stores are the same as in the U.S. Being a resident of N.J., the country was one beautiful scene after another. The plains stretched as far as tomorrow and the rockies reached right up into the clouds. Never saw so much wildlife.

Thank you Canada, you were a treat.

Actually Bill...

As far as we're concerned "YOU WERE THE TREAT".

I am so happy to have met you finally and have had you as a guest here in Renfrew...in 'my shop' no less!

This was my first time hosting a L/H meet and no doubt could have been better...but the thought and spirit was there. It was an honor to have you as part of the group.

You shared with us some of your invaluable knowledge, gained through your life in the signmaking business, and it was much appreciated.

I have even begun my 'Bill Reidel' photo collection. I'll bring copies of everything to Quebec for you.

Though I'm not 'that' new to the business, my 'Sign Shoppe' is only a year & a half old.
Your being here was inspirational to me as well as some others who I consider more sign-seasoned.

I'm looking forward to seeing you, in Quebec next month and hope that you can make it up this way again.

Thank You!...for sharing your time, your skill, but most importantly..yourself!

..another 'Bill' fan...in Canada
Shirley

Glad to hear the remainder of your trip was great Bill...Your willingness to jump right in and participate is 2nd to none...You left a pretty good mark in Our daughters heart, and like Mike said, your up and down off the scaffolding like a 20 year old...the Kinsmen still can't get over their panel van...Thanks for your wisdom and your generous heart to share it and we're going to have to take you up on that golf game...Pat, Ruth and family... Thanks to you to Roger.

We always look forward to any opportunity to spend time with Bill. I can't think of anyone who loves to teach more than Bill.

This was a small meet, but Bill never stopped sharing his years of experience with anyone that needed help. Sometimes it was hand lettering one on one and another time it was a carving demo.

Bill is also a man with a big heart. He's the Dad and/or GrandDad we all wish we had. Our 6 yo Grand Daughter Lydia and Bill forged a special bond at last Summer's meet in Mars, PA. He surprised her later in the year, via mail, with a portrait that simply thrilled her to death.

Bill and Roger spent several hours over the weekend carving a pair of wings for a sign, but Bill found another use for them. Charlie may have his angels, but Bill Riedel has his share too.
