Hey Heads! I got a job coming up with quite a few gilded Gemini letters, the customer wants 'silver' I have not used alot of white gold or palladium leaf. so my question is? which one should I use? which one will shine best, last the longest? do I need to clear them? what about Aluminium leaf?

!2k "white gold" will eventually tarnish. Palladium won't, but will cost alot more than gold. If you can even find it.
So, use alumunum leaf. It's very inexpensive and will never tarnish. If you must clear, I recommend "frog Juice", but there may be something better. (?)

Hi Ken,
I'm really careful about the word silver. It means a lot of things to a lot of people. Some customers say "silver" when, in reality, they want chrome. These are usually the same people who say "make it blue", and we all know how many blues there are with paints and vinyls..lol
Don't know if you can do this, but how about painting them with One Shot metallic silver and clearing it with UV Clear or Frog Juice? Show them the chart and see if it'll be right for their idea of silver.

Hi Ken, How's it going?
I'm nervous over the possibility of using aluminum or white gold, which will both need clearcoating...the clear isn't likely to last as long as the customer expects it to. I looked in the Gold Leaf Techniques book, and it says Palladium leaf is a bit darker and browner than silver, but it wont need clearcoating. I've never used Palladium, but I'd try it so that the letters don't have to be cleared.
