I don't like one or two because "I Like Them Both"......

Brightness of #1..
Layout of #2......

Both work for ME!...

#2 is smokin'. Original but still easy and quick to read. Make a nice biz card, as well.

I'd consider #1 as a Letterhead- it's amazing as well, just not as "quick to the eye"...or depending on the layout of your shop you could put it on a wall? Banner for events? Side of the truck?

Definitely #2
Really spells out your purpose. Both look great though

#2 is nice, although the contoured shape of the panel seems abit awkward to me, especially on the right side. I'd like to see the shines on the word "SIGNS" more uniform too.

I like #1, it's nice too. I would like to see "The" and "3rd" handled as it is on #2 though. By doing so, I think it could add some interest and cut down the length a bit.

Both rock!

I guess I'm gonna be the odd duck here, but I like #1 a whole lot better than two. I find the eye flows through it much better, the layout is balanced better, it's not crowding the border and like John, the tag line does a lot to explain what you do.

Both are really great. I find the thick rules above and below a little distracting at that weight - I'd like to see them a little thinner.

The second one has a lot of great personality, but I can't help but think that the scrolls are being used as filler, instead of an integrated part of the design.

Make any sense? Just my thoughts. You obviously know what you're doing... they both look terrific.

I agree with John Lennig. #2 but maybe a seperate panel for the tag line on #1.

I agree with Nettie. I would use number 2, only with a more conventional outside shape. I would also raise the size of Company to the size of the top copy. I like the word Sign, except for the tail on the N. I appears to be on it's way to being a great sign. I do like the color combo also, if there is enough contrast between the purple and black...

Doing your own logo is the hardest one of all.

In general, I prefer number two. I agree with Bob that the rules could be thinner, especially on number one. I do like the tag line on one, as mentioned, it could perhaps be a separate panel on two.

On two, the tail on the “N” seems to flow the eye back into the word “SIGN”. If it were my design, I would also lay it out from the bottom right corner of the letter going to the right to see if I liked that better.

Well it doesn't look to me like you really need advise, However .......LOL
I think the long layout is a better design, not too impressed by the graphics on each end but they have their place. I personally would take the second layout and convert it to a longer design(with the short one tucked in your mind for future use)
and I would put after sign in the same letter style
as sign just a simple Co.leaving the movement in the word dimension alone, I love how third dimension flows, but I would let it flow to sign co.
They are both great, and I have a feeling you know that LOL
Bill
PS: of course the tagline must stay it tells a story to those who get past the name.
