I just got a used PNC 960 which seems to work fine. I would like to be able to use the vinyl in the most efficient manner. It seems that when I send a project to the cutter, place it in the bottom of the page, the cutter feeds out about 6" of vinyl before it starts to cut. I probably don't have the page set up right so could someone please help me set it up? Thanks Skip Willis Two more questions: It won't cut real small lettering and It is hard to weed some of the vinyl(some of the corners don't look like their cut).

Skip....Two things come to mind. First, does the PNC 960 have a button that you can push to "reset" the start point? Or does it have a feature for pre-feeding the vinyl to check for alignment, therefore requiring a "reset" of the start point?
Second, in the print preview window of Corel, under the word "file" there is a dropdown box...The "print style" should say "Custom(current settings not saved). Below that box is another...The "image position within page" should say "As in document".
The actual image that you see in the Print Preview window should be IDENTICAL to the way you see you image and page in CorelDraw.
For the small lettering you might need a new blade.
As far as it not cutting the corners correctly, there should be a "switch" on the machine that switches between "pen" mode and "cutter" mode.
As I mentioned in my e-mail I am not that conversant with that particular model, so maybe someone like Gail might have more specific info. Check the manual that you downloaded re. the pen/cutter setting.

I'm not familiar with that cutter either but it would be nice to know if its a "drag-knife" or "tangental(sp)" setup. If its a drag then there should be a "blade offset" setting somewhere which needs to be adjusted so that the corners meet properly.

As far as the cutter not doing small letters there are a couple of things that can be done to remedy this,...If it is a used and older plotter I would remove the top cover and check to see if the lil' screw that fastens the cable for the cutting heads horizontal movement is tight and or has loostened and fell out. Secondly I would go to www.rolanddga.com and download the pdf file for the manual for your model and check the parts about blade offsets.

Also check the condition of the white teflon strip that is under the knife, this is a wear item, easily replaced, and for the pnc1100a costs about $15cdn.

Thanks guys! I did buy a new blade ( I thought it said for small lettering.) and a new wear strip for the bottom. I'll re-read the section about the knife offsets and study the layout again. I did get it to cut a little better by re-adjusting the cutting pressure though. Thanks again. Skip
