I am posting this, not to point fingers at any particular supplier, but to hopefully save some of us some money.

Suppliers can charge whatever the traffic will bear for their products. Just like we can for our products.

I recently applied for and set up an account with a new supplier. Yesterday I recieved their price list. In doing a very preliminary price comparison between the new supplier and my existing supplier, I find that for the two most common products I buy, Avery A5/24" and Avery A8/24" vinyl, the new supplier is, on average 30% cheaper than the existing supplier!!!!!

Now, to put that into perspective, At the end of this month I will be paying $1700 to my existing supplier for mostly Avery vinyl purchased last month. If you knock off 30% from that figure it is a saving to me of $510!!!!!!!

As I stated, I am NOT complaining about the existing supplier's price schedules. I am just happy that I have found an alternative supplier who is going to save me a considerable amount of money over the course of a year!

NOW, if I could figure out a way to not have to pay more income tax due to the increased profit, I would be REALLY happy! [Wink] [Wink]

Hi, David,

Can you email me the URL and/or a name and phone number for that new supplier?

Thanks,

Steve

I could Steve, but it probably wouldn't do you much good. We are in Ontario, Canada! [Smile]

I'm more interested in good service than price when it comes to suppliers. I've made the decision on price alone and have learned that receiving the right item on time with the least amount of P.I.T.A. (pain in the ass) Factor is much more important than even saving 30%. That doesn't mean that I don't pay attention to price, but when it comes to materials and supplies, it's usually the least important. The material costs in the typical sign job is usually only 10 or 15% of the final cost, and if a certain item shows up a day after my deadline, or damaged, the wrong size or color (all of these have happened to me), the price means little.

i guess i should be happy where iam at. i got 2 in town suppliers, a couple that deliver from outa town, and 5-6 that will get my stuff to me next day. i basically deal with whoever has what i need.....1st, then price is 2nd. and its kinda nice to have "choices" on who is gona get my money...if i can get the same product from one place at a $5-10 saving i will buy there. i get 3-4 calls a week from outa town suppliers....with their "specials" of that week. MDO i buy local, they just started to carry the painted. for non-painted i use a local lumber yard.
also run into a clearance sale on vinyl..all this spring....and the last batch i bought was 15"x 10yd rolls of 3m 7125 series...FOR $12.00 A ROLL!!!!!! i got vinyl....in all kinda colors!!!! at $12 for the roll....if i sell 1 sq.ft. it will pay for it!!!!!

It all comes down to trust...

I deal with some suppliers because I have to ... and some suppliers because I want to ... guess which group I spend more money with.
