Let me start by saying I am not asking for someone to write one for me, or to steal someone else's work, I just need examples as a starting point.

Recently, we've had discussions about charging design fees and about having everything in writing. Well, I went to combine those 2 topics into some sort of agreement/contract for doing design work and I'm drawing a blank. Every sentence I start to type, I delete before I finish.

Please share what is in your agreement, so I can make sure I include everything I need to include. I don't want to write one & then get bit in the butt for missing something stupid.
Thanks!!

I don't think I could ever get across the meaning
of design fees, contracts and such to the "Dingbats" that I have been dealing with lately!!! Sheeeeeese If I knew another occupation
I think I would change my way of making a living.
[Eek!]

Its simple no money? no work!

I dont have it in writing nor on our contract, I always explain it up front, too much fine print is a waste anyway. The more you do it it becomes real comfortable, and the more confidence you have the easier it is.

It's real simple no drawings unless you get paid, and you set your own fees on that.

The tricky part is defining the difference between a black and white sketch and a logo design, I get minimum 50 bucks for a quick b&w layout, now if that design even remotely resembles an image identity or "logo" I explain the design difference and the fee difference

When I'm getting info or going to give a quote ...just ask...Are you providing the art or do you want me to include that in my quote? They usually say isn't that included? I say I can't make a sign with out a digital vector based file and you want to see what your sign will look like bfore I cut and build it , right? They say yea I guess... I say that someone has to spend the time and efferts to creat it...I charge $$$$ an hour, I do this daily,
I guarentee satisfaction... heres my porfolio for examples.

The customer then knows theres a cost. and it gives you an oppertunity to "up sale" if your examples are impressive.

I sell more design in my shop than signs, about 60%.
