Well mister, I'll see your ten and raise you ten, that's twenty bucks pardner.

(I'm not challenging previous donations, just trying to be colorful.) This is a good Idea, who should M.O. be made out to?

Shep', good job, getting this going. I will send a 50.00 U.S. m.o tomorrow made out to Fred Floyd.

Last Sept. at your woodgraining hoedown, Rob & I went for an early morning drive, looking at the countryside, and searching for breakfast. He's a good man, I hope he can get thru this time ok.

sorry to hear about the situation... I want to send something, it will be small, but every little bit counts! take care, sounds like great advice here. Hope you mend soon, as you are still young. (I slipped a disc while working at a paint factory back in the 70's, lifting cases of sandbased paint, and the disc didn't slip until I stepped down a stair a couple months later. I did heal though!

Count us in... Deb, It doesn't matter how small of gift it is, it all adds up. When we had the last big earthquake in Calif. Bob was out of work for a while (this is Jen BTW I really do have to register myself here so you all don't see Bob everytime I want to post). Anyway, all of a sudden we got mail from everywhere and even flowers from NJ to brighten up what was left of our kitchen. It was such a surprise, some sent as little as $5 with a note saying it was all they could afford and hoping it would help. Believe me when I say it does add up. Bob didn't work for almost a month and our bills were paid and we were so grateful to our friends and collegues it brought tears to our eyes. It just goes to show what a great people we are and how if we all pull together how much we can help another in need. --Jennifer

Hey to you all. It's not all about money. I know some of you out there have a heart as big as a bushel basket but your money is running low so just send what you can. If it is no more than your love and your prayers I am sure Robert will thank you for that. We just thought we would try help a brother who is less fortunate than we are today. God bless you each and every one.

God Bless you all for helping him out this way!

I remember how much it made my day when my Church helped me one Christmas! I was on my carport, frantically painting signs on Christmas Eve, when they showed up with a tree, presents for the children and I, and a turkey and boxes of food. They gave me a card with $50 in it to help with bills too. It was a miracle that still makes me cry with joy when I remember the looks on my girls' faces whilst the angels God sent, set everything up, (including candy canes on the tree,) and then gathered outside our front door to sing carols to us. All I could do is say, "Thank you, Lord!" over and over! I put down my brushes and spent the rest of the evening decorating the tree with the girls and reading to them out of the Bible. We made a birthday cake for Jesus that year and many after that.

Never under-estimate the power of giving. It touches the heart of the person you give to in a way that nothing else can. It also, shows the Lord that you are a good steward with what He gives you and blesses you in ways you may not see yet, but trust me, it's a good thing!

It is always darkest before the dawn!

Bump.

Here's the deal folks, aside from what I've already commited to, I'll match the next $80 that comes in.

Just think, your $5 could become $10, your $10 could become $20. Go for it!

James, you're a gentleman and a scholar and weird and colorful.
Did I mention generous?

I hope that there are more donations than these answers suggest, and that donors just send their checks to Fred without wanting the publicity of a post.

We can, collectively, with an envelope, a stamp and a pen give what we won't miss -
and added up it will make a real difference and pay some real bills to a friend in temporary need.

Myra, thanks for the kind words, but I'm looking around the room wondering "Who's she talking about?" Even if I looked through my rolodex of personalities, I'm not sure I could identify the character. Hmmm, maybe the guy in the Hawaiian shirt.

Anyway, I was thinking about this thread, and I realized, it's more than "Love your neighbor as yourself" and " do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

It's also about politics, yippee! Some folks think government should take care of this sort of thing, others don't. To all you conservative types I say, ("pre-emptive" smileys [Smile] [Smile] [Smile] ) QUIT FAKIN' IT! Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your fellow letterhead!

This is the nighmare all of us who are self employed face. For most, our ability to earn depends on our ability to get up and go to work tomorrow. When you are young, it's easy to think that you are invincible. Nothings ever gonna happen to me. Balony!

Our turn came in the form of a heart attack on Christmas Day 1993. Our shop had grown to the point it required $300 a day just to keep the doors open. I returned to work as soon as I could lie my way out of the hospital. It was only a couple months before I had a second heart attack and our personal nightmare began.

The following 3-4 years were a living Hell as we sold and did whatever we could to feed the family and keep a roof over our heads. Dispite a perfect 25 year record, the bank washed their hands of us. It was like a black cloud was hanging over our heads, a test to see how much we could endure. I'm ashamed to say there were many days I considered doing somethiing that would allow the family to collect some life insurance money.

In our case, a miracle happened in the form of this website. I've heard it said that God never closes a door without opening a window somewhere. It's also said that tough times don't last, but tough people do. One only has to look at the horror stories millions of our ancestors lived during the Depression and World War 2 to verify that things eventually turn around and get better. Fear is the greatest enemy.

I'm sure proud of the gang here at Letterville. You are generous, loving and caring people. Our dollars will not solve Rob's longterm challenge, but I'm sure a night out with the family, or anything to break the stress for just a few hours, will be appreciated. We are indeed a Family and it's at these difficult times we need our Family the most.

Keep your eyes and ears open Rob. A great idea is going to come your way. You inspired me with your idea of woodgraining garage doors in upscale neighborhoods. That may not be the solution, but you can be sure an opportunity is coming along. Be ready!

WOW! You guys are great!
I don't know what to say but....THANKS!

Shep just called and told me what was going on.
He is a great guy for starting this.

I am back at the shop part-time, but it is dead slow here. I get more marketing calls, than calls for work.

Bending and lifting is still questionable, but I am off the bed and out of the house more and more. I will need another epidural shot in the next week or two.

Again, Thanks so much for the financial & moral support.

I am only a few hours from you. If you want to send anything I can do for you, or maybe I can come down and help you for a few days, let me know. Especially anything that's painted outdoor stuff. Can do Corel 9 and a little Signlab too.

No point in turning any work away..........I'd be happy to donate some time to help things along.

Fred, glad that we can be of help. This is a great place.
There are 8287 registered users here. If only everyone sent $5 or $10 just think how much of an impact that would make for someone in need. You wouldn't notice it was gone at the end of the day and feel the better for it.
Keep it coming, folks!

Last call, all aboard, Robert still could use some more help. Like all good things, this too, must come to an stumbling place, and it seems we are there. I would like to go to the bank and get Robert and his family one more nice check. To do thid your help is needed, Bless those who have given from thier hearts. Bless those who have prayed for them. It seems that there are enough blessing to go around when we all share the burden placed before us. So bless you each and every one.
