I'm looking for a way to cut on a Graphtec 5100 using AI 10 in OSX. Anybody doing that or have good advice. Good, as in not going over to the dark side!

I use SignPost on my G3 with the serial connection on my 5100. I'm not sure that SignPost is OS X savvy at this time. I talked to Max last week and I think that he may be working on it.
I have my G4 connected to the same plotter with the USB connection using the Cutting Master app from Graphtec.
The cool part is with just a few button punches on the 5100, HPGL to GPGL , we can cut from either workstation. I haven't tried Cutting Master in OS X with Illustrator 10 as of yet though so check with tech support.

I've often wondered whether Max was / is stii around...glad you had a chance to talk to him. Signpost has the kind of performance record most other softwares only dream about. howard

Thanks all, I'm having one heck of a time getting a for sure answer on this but it's looking up now! Thanks Letterheads.
Howard, I met you at ISA in Vegas. Looks like you sold me on your cutter that I can't afford. I just want to find the rest of the picture before I buy.
This is the hardest I have had to look for mac software to keep up with (or ahead of) big blue and I have a copy of Illustrator 88, so I've been mac for a while.

Mike, I was looking for the same connectivity from (MAC) Illistrator directly to a cutter...after months of research I bought a graphtec 5100 and down loaded the software from Graphtec to cut right from Illustator. It works great! The software was just finished being developed when I got it. You cant go wrong, its the best thing since apple pie. Bye-Bye to flexi ! Give me a call if any questions I can help with. Rick @ Trick

Rick, Do I read you right? Graphtec has updated Cutting Master to Mac OS X and Illustrator 10? The version 9 app won't work in Illustrator 10 and I don't see an upgrade on Graphtec's website.
Any input Howard?

Howdy, Bill...
Are you suggesting that our website could use some attention??
The answer is YES to OS-X and AI-11.

OK, The Master Cutter software that came on the disc with the cutter is only for OS9 and it can't find the plug-in file anyway, even when I open AI in classic.
HELP I'm going crazy! Can't wait to make it work! Anybody know the ulr for the download of the osX version? It is not on any of the graphtec sites I could find. Well It might be but I can't read japanese Help!!!

Mike...
Best bet for a quick solution is to call Neal Baessler at Graphtec. He can e-mail you what you need.

Good to hear Max is back at it. Last time I talked to him he planned no further upgrades to SignPost. That is one stable and easy to use program.
The only knock I had on it was when I needed to cut extremely large graphics, like the paint mask I was cutting for basketball courts. When cutting curves and circles in the 12 foot diameter range, SignPost seemed to not be able to handle the file size very well. Cutting was extremely slow. The same files imported into Flexi cut at full speed no matter how big the arc was.
If anyone talks to Max again, the one thing that would really improve his tiling would be for the weeding border to be able to cut verticle as well as horizontal.
