FKAB carving partie deux

I started a new thread so the multiple pics in addition to the ones on the previous thread wont slow you down. I’m on a 56K modem at home and it is pretty slow…

Pic 1. I hope I have appeased the powers that be with the ferule. If not please be kind, this is my first big job. Pierre??? [Wink] [Wink]

 -

Pic 2.

 -

Pic 3. I must admit, I was quite pleased with the results of the handle on the gouge. I am looking for suggestions for the gouge blade color. I don’t think silver leaf will look good… Also, I’m a rookie in that arena too. [Eek!]

 -

Any more progress to post team??

Why not use alumunum leaf? It's cooler than paint.

Hey Pierre, how come he gets to spend a week with you in the carving room??!! What about me?! [Smile]

Good work Joe A. Did you grind the proper bevel on that gouge? [Wink]

I think aluminum leaf would be perfect as well.

This is also where I admit that I busted one of the ends off my ribbon. Oops. Nothing a little glue won't fix. [Smile]

Whynott, Terry?

heh................

Next spring/summer when the new facility is up here in Lost Prairie I'll be sending invitations out to Letterhead carvers to come and hang out at the old homestead here for a week.

There will be carving and TOYS, folks!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Look like the leafs have it… it is cooler than paint! [Smile]

A week in the carving room with Pierre…...hmmm….. that sounds like an extra large box of BandAids! I’m in!

Terry, I put the obligatory 15-degree bevel on the gouge. I feel your pain about your broken ribbon. I would use a wooden dowel with the glue.
