This was my first attempt at making a sign like this. My neighbor wanted a real estate sign for a subdivision.
It was 4x4 post with 2x4 runners, i used .032 white metal for the sign (double sided, 2 colors) and framed this in with 2"x2" and attached to the whole frame, then installed it for her.
Now she is wanting another sign witha few changes. She want a blue background an dneed to be 4'x8'. A few questions for the board.
What should i use for the substrate this time, and where to purchase it?.I am in Atlanta GA
And wil it be ok to span this sign the 8' without a center leg under the bottom in the middle?
What prices do you get for something like this??

Use Omega Lusterboard. 4X8 sheets of plywood faced with glossy white aluminum on each side. Very strong. No need for a center post. Call 1-800-523-2347 to find a dealer near you. Good luck. Mark
Oh, dont forget to order the edge caps when you get it. It makes the plywood weatherproof so it won't delaminate.

Use 4mm Dibond. Dado a 1/4" wide x 1/2" deep channel down the dead center of the 3 1/2" width of redwood 2x4s. Miter the corners, screw one 4' and the two 8' lengths together with the channel on the inside. Slide your 4x8 sheet of Dibond into the channel and screw the end cap on.
Presto. A mitered, framed, double sided 4x8 ready to hang/screw between two posts. No center legs necessary.
