my customer thinks "glossy" paint looks cheap/flashy and has asked for a matte look on their banner. i've got matte finish banner material, but what's the best way to "flatten" the gloss on the 1-shot?
Do I flatten the paint or do I paint a matte varnish over the whole thing?
Also, are there any reasons for NOT making a matte finish?

Scooter why not use One Shot Poster paint????

I don't think the Poster Paint is intended for long term outdoor use. This banner is intended to last at least 3 years.

Scooter, Go to your local paint store and ask for some "deglosser". Then paint as usual. Good luck.

Add Flatening Powder to One Shot and you will get the flat finish you are looking for. available at most sign supply store, I get mine at canadian Signcrafters Supply. You can also use Magic waterbased paint for a banner, stick very good on banners without prep and dries fast.

thanks!
so, how much powder? and will it affect the way i use the paint, drying time, flow, its durability, or anything like that?

The quantity requested is depending of how flat you want your paint. You would probably have to ran a few test before. It won't affect the paint, the flow and the drying time neither the durability. You will have to stir and shake a lot as it is a little hard to mix, but it works perfect. I used it in Deka waterbased, Magic paint and One Shot (long time ago).
