Anyone know of a skin tone coloured vinyl, I usually use avery or oracle but these dont seem to have a suitable colour and the little man on this sign looks like he's been in the sun too long.

I have some flesh colored vinyl, but I don't know who makes it. I will look tomorrow and let you know.

Is this a TRICK question? "MY" skin tone is called...RUDDY I have an American Indian sign painter friend.... Deep CRIMSON colored! Sam Sanflippo is Italian Cisco Vargas is of Spanish decent,with GREAT skin color! Got Afro/American sign buddies also. So......... you looking for ARIAN race? Caucasun with a Tan?
Specific question will get you sprcific answers
Why not call your carature by a DIFFERENT name? Change facial features to match what you have? What about(God forbid) PAINT!!!!!!

3-M Scotchcal 220 clear enamel receiptive vinyl.
Mix One-Shot to pantone colour you want. Spray/Paint/cut and apply.
Great way to make your own colours needed.

Avery A8240 and A8235. Either will work for primary and there are other colours that will work for area shading.

I have Trim USA Ivory #204 that is a flesh color, and it is high performance.

I think Pat got up on the wrong side of the bed. Oracal 851 now has coral as one of its colors. Itll work perfectly. Just check with your Oracal dealer.

i'm guessing you are looking for a caucasian flesh tone. Colors don't exist by themselves. one of the issues you have is the background color -- peach, tan, ivory and coral color can all work -- but they dont all work against the same background.
tan against teal will work well, but the same tan against black or navy blue will look washed out.
Avery A8 now has about 7 colors of what we used to call "tan" -- it ranges from parchment to buckskin and they're all "warm nuetral" colors. I've used Coral, but it can be "too pink" unless its used against a pink or red (warm tone) background, which softens it.

Pat brings up an important point. He isn't just making a picky comment about racial awarenss (although that is important too).
As design professionals, we need to be aware of how we use language to describe design elements and color. If a customer called up and wanted "flesh tone" you might not know what color her flesh is.
Women are possible more familiar than men with the makeup color designations -- those are all "skin tones" , but they aren't all the same color. They are numbered from 00 (very white) through 10 (dark chocolate).
Its good to use more specific words like "cream", "peach", "ivory" etc. than "flesh".
Of course, a peach farmer will see "peach" as anyting from red to yellow, with a saturated color or almost white pastels. Ivory can range from bone white to a dusky yellow.

Thanks everyone, sorry, it didn't even cross my mind about who's skin tone I was talking about, yes, I meant caucasian skin. I'll check out the Oracle first and see how I go, as it's easiest for me to lay my hands on it. And you are right Sam, I have to admit that it would be frustrating trying to work out what the customer meant, I'll try to expand my description a bit next time. thanks again everyone for taking the time to reply.
