We just loaded loaded our Graphix Advantage (6.21.6 into a new computer with Windows 98. Problem is I can't place an .jpg of .bmp image (f10)in without the image looking too pixelated. The .jpg is high resolution but comes into GA not workable. I remember long ago of this problem but can't find how to correct it. Anyone with the solution? Thanks in advance for any help. Ray, I believe you need to select the image, then from the menu select display, then image resolution. A displsay box will allow you to chose low, med, or high. One thing to add, using the green finger, select image, then apply process fill from the color type box, there too you can select image resolution, otherwisae the image will not show when image is filled. Spoke with Jeff on the phone and no luck with the finding the solution. Image still comes in heavily pixelated looking like a thumbnail image. We're both experienced with GA and this stumps us. Anyone else has a suggestion? Thanks Ray

Hi Ray. You neglected to mention what the resolution was on that bitmap you're attempting to import, and whether or not you're printing it as "actual size" or trying to enlarge it. That's VERY critical to the result you'll be getting. If you're printing it at "actual size" and the initial resolution is 75 DPI or higher, you should get an acceptable result. If you're attempting to enlarge this image, you should be working with no less than 150 DPI or 300 DPI would be better. I realize that this DRAMATICALLY increases the file size, but that's the nature of working with 4-color images.
When you try to enlarge a pixelated image (bitmap) by 200% (double size) you ALSO enlarge eash individual pixel that makes up that image. A 75 DPI image that's being enlarged 200% will result in the printed image having pixels of 37.5 DPI which is rather coarse in texture. The ONLY remedy is to have your customer supply you with the image correctly scanned at the proper resolution. They will probably have to do this on a CD disc, as the file size will be quite large.

Hello Ken. Thanks for the reply. Some of the images I'm trying to bring in are more than 300 dpi and larger than 6m. I scanned another image and gave it a high resolution with no luck. I've placed the images for years (owned GA since '93). I recall having this problem long ago but with loading GA into a new computer. I just don't remember how to fix it. I need to set up an ftp so I attach images of what it's doing. When and if I get this figured out I will post the solution. Thanks for your help. Anyone else recall this problem? Ray
