Hey, I've got an excuse as to why I'm up this late, but what about you other sign cats,man?
When I do signs, I try to work during the day. But when I'm painting equipment I often work at night. The mechanics and electricians work on them by day, and wierd painter comes in at night. Actually, it's pretty neat what can be done by such a small crew. The electrician ("sparky" in R.R. lingo) is one of the best around. This company can buy equipment that others wouldn't, because they can't figure out the electrical problems. He works on that, the mechanics install new turbo chargers, and I take care of all things cosmetic. In decent time, no less. Out rolls another refurbished 120 ton locomotive. Jim D.

. . . .It is not unusual for me to go to the shop at 9 or 10pm after the 8 yr. old has crashed an' work 'til 2 or 3am, crash 'til 6:30, get her to school, possibly, hopefully, but only sometimes get to crash again 'til about 9am . . . . . . see, at them hours, the phone ain't ringin' an' no one's stoppin' in . . . .ahhh, the heavenly bliss of productive solitude, even if I often sport that "chinese-lack'a-sleep" look . . .

it's 2 am here in the Pacific Northwest....I'm still working on a parking lot directional sign that's due tomorrow, I messed up one part cuz I'm getting tired and have a really bad cold....so, rather than push it I'm calling it a night and finish up in the morning....
But, I like working late into the night, always have, it's quiet, no phones, just celtic harp music (The Chieftans tonight) in the backround.
Never been a morning person.

I swore I'd never work at night and often bragged about never working evenings nor weekends nor holidays.
Well, those days are out the window now! It's either more time with my 4 yr old and work some nights or send him to daycare fulltime! No way will I do that!
After I get my 2nd wind, around 10pm I'm ok in my shop. But until then, my mind is blank and I can only do paperwork. I'm neither a morning person nor late night person! What does that make me?!? Posted by Rick Beisiegel (Member # 3723) on :
When our shop was in the house, I worked round the clock. Ideally I would have slept in, but my artist would come in at 8:30. No sleeping in here! Today, we have our shop 8 miles away. If I need solice, I go in early (6ish) That way, I don't miss time w/the misses, and I get stuff done. However, there are still some weekends taken up with maintainance around the shop. It's like having a second house.

I was out in the shop last night well after midnight. I find it easier to get more done without the phone and salesmen distracting you. I have been told I do my best work at 2AM.
My shop is at home and I rarely get a second to myself anymore, especially this time of year. The winter ends and, being a seasonal area, the spring rush hits in a flash.

My body is built for afternoon shift.
My schedule is get up around 9 or 10, hit the computer (bb, emails, any layout work) til noonish. Then I eat and either grab a shower and run in town to do errands or go straight to the shop (basement at this point). I like to work til around 7, come up and eat while watching Law & Order (I'm addicted), then head back to the shop til 9-10-11 and usually get back on the computer when I come up and watch tv, fight with the dogs, snack. I do take breaks throughout the day to wrestle with the boys, let them drag me through the yard, play fetch.

I used to work till the girls started falling off the school bus around 2-3pm. Then I would listen to them fill me in on the events of their day at 90mph and sideways...akin to turkey season...lblbllblblblblblbl.
After dinner and homework and showers and signing papers, etc. it was a joy to turn on some nice classical music and work peacefully till midnight or 2pm.
Now I have the entire day to myself and it's boring without all the chaos...LOL. I still like painting at night better and it's good for some of my clients as they like to make money with their trucks during the day and I can paint them at night.
Steve, if you ever print any Letterhead shirts upside-down, I would proudly wear one. I feel upside-down with this graveyard schedule I seem to be unable to shake...LOL.

.....HEY! That might be a cute project for some screen printers who have absolutey NOTHING to do (lol) Make up a T-shirt that says "LATE-NIGHT-LETTERHEAD THIS WAY" upside down an' with an arrow pointing in the opposite direction on each side.... That'd be me fershur! LOL! Could I get that in purple with chrome yellow copy?
