Don Coplen and I are hosting the SANDCASTLE Panel Jam, a Dixie Letterhead Reunion! We're counting the days, til we get shake hands with some of the finest folks in Letterville! We can't wait to see you!
Have you spoken with the BOSS yet? In case ya haven't, let 'em or 'er know, that a much needed vacation is just 'round the corner!
Florida Sunshine, that's where it is... way down in Dixie, southern style... SANDCASTLE Panel Jam, a Letterhead Reunion! April 25th-27th...
Don and I, have lots planned for you... We like having fun and have an imagination to boot... Thinkin' about the possibilities gives us the goosebumps...
What we're wanting to know is;
WHO'S COMING?
Here are a few of the highlights, that we know of, so far:
Fort Myers, is the home of SIGNCRAFT MAGAZINE! Actually, they're a bikeride away from my shop ... or a breath-taking hike through a cypress swamp! Rumor has it, that a few of the guys at SIGNCRAFT, are musicaly inclined... Tom McIltrot assures me, he will mention it to 'the boys' and possibly they will make it a reunion of their own, so to speak, and play us a tune or two! We're plannin' on havin' a setup for a jam sesson...
We're interested in your musical talent!
What does is take, for you to make noise, in harmony...hehe... (lol, Sonny, I hope you've practiced on that washboard) Keep this in mind, cuz, we're gonna have some fun on Saturday night!
On Saturday night, we've plannned a Southern Bar-B-Que... Joe, he's our chef, although he's more like Mel, 'the cook'...hehe We're plannin' on ribs and we'll be sure to have 'em, but ya never know what other critters Joe is gonna throw on the BBQ... Joe's protable kitchen is better known as Suuueeeee Bar-B-Q! Can you say Suuuuueeeeee? Careful now, nobody gets embarassed when we do the pig call, okay...
Okay, enough for now...
ROLL CALL...
more details to follow...

We're planning on being there. If my daughter won't stay at Nanna and Pop's she may be there too!
See you soon.
Have any hotel info yet?

Cher, what perfect timing! I've got the blues because I couldn't go to Fred's. Can't wait for the "Sand Castle" jam.
I have one of my Mom's harmonicas that my brother insisted that I take after her death. I have practiced and so far all I can play is a bad rendition of "Mary had a little lamb." Guess that explains why I didn't get a fiddle, guitar, banjo, or sax. But I will be bringing Lauren (oldest grand-daughter) and she will sing on my behalf! hehehehe Hope Sonny, Judy, and Bobbie all show up with the washboards with Cher on lead guitar. Remember Sonny's Cajun Redneck Regae band?
Suueeeee! Let's call all the hogs and throw them on the pit. We are going to have fun and learn lots at your meet.
See ya in April.

I plan on making it, just don't count on me making any kind of music, the only thing I can play is the radio.
Posted by Cheryl Lucas (Member # 1656) on :
Well now, looks like we'll be jammin' at our sandBLAST! Kathy, don't leave that harp behind, you may surprise yerself when ya really get at it! I have several musical weapons to play with! lol It'll be a hoot!
I've deligated the duty of callin' the hotel/motels, I should have all of the information by the first of the week, and will post it as soon as I get it.
There are 5 hotel/motels, all located near one intersection, which is only a hop, skip and a jump from my shop! Quick and easy access! All are relatively new. They are only a couple miles from I-75 and maybe less than 10 miles from the Southwest Regional Airport (RSW).
We are inquiring about a block of at least 30 rooms, and hopefully, that will bring a discount rate! One of them is a Super 8, I'm guessing they will have the best rate, but don't know yet...
Rumor has it, that Shep is coming and will do a woodgraining demo. Robert Thomas, from Naples, FL, said he will come and do a faux finish demo... Did I tell ya, Frank Manning from OneShot is coming? Dee Mays, the HARTCO (sandblast resist) representative will be here to show and demonstrate the use of their line of products.
I'm leaving some things out, since I don't have all my notes here at the house. Ah Ha, that will give me a reason to BUMP this post later! hehe
I am so excited about seeing everyone!
We're gonna have some FUN!
Cher.

I'm planning on it, and may drag a couple of friends along from this area. Robby Rucker said he'd like to go...any of you know him? He won first place for a dimensional sign a couple of years ago in ST.
I can't wait to meet everyone. Especially the brush jockeys amongst the group. Got a guitar I might throw in the truck....

Can't wait. Will be there for sure. The only thing in this world that would stop me is if the Lightning have a home playoff game that weekend. Nothing would keep me away from that.

Cher, You forgot to tell everyone to bring your sunnies, singlets & shorties, 'cause it is hot in SW Florida in April. That's sunglasses, tank tops & shorts to all of you northeners.
If you can make an extra day or two, we have a lot of beautiful beaches from Sanibel to Marco Island. Bring a rod or two if you like to fish.
I think I'll just do a beer drinking demonstration. I may have a keg at my shop for the people that get here early. I am just south of Cheryl in Bonita Springs/North Naples.
Cheers

Hey TOFU JOE!
I'd like to extend an invitation for you to tease our tastbuds, during your stay with us...
We've been hearin' about this vegi way of life far to long to let this opportunity pass!
Got a favorite recipe that might convert the meat eaters?
Just lemme know what ya need and I'll have it for ya, quicker than you can say Suueeeeee!

Posted by Cheryl Lucas (Member # 1656) on :
Hahaha, JOE!
Don't think yer getting off that easy!
Do you mean to tell me that you'd drive all the way to Sweet Tomato's, to put on a feed bag? When you can sit down to a delicious bowl of Pad Thai, right here at the shop? hmmmm?
You've told me of this favorite recipe of yours and I made notes, ah-ha, here they are:
PAD THAI
Tai Chieu Sate / Huy Fong Foods
Ground chili w/ fried garlic - Tuong Ot Sate / Anhing Corp.
ADD after cooking to portion
Pad Thai Sauce (Lee Brand)
ADD to flavor sauce before adding WIDE RICE NOODLES
FRY eggs for stir fry (dry scramble into little peices)
Using FIRM TOFU, fry once in block, cut into cubes
Marinate in Soy & Ginger
CUT into cubes and fry again...
This is it, for the notes...lol But the main idea, wouldn't ya say? Huh, Joe?
Give me a list of what you need and if I have to, I'll change into my cookin' apron and give ya a lesson or two on how to use a WOK!
hehehe, Cher.
Posted by old paint (Member # 549) on :
hahahahahahahaha cheryl....your good...for heat under that wok...you need oe of them "fish cooker" propane burners they seel at home depot puts out 160,000 B.T.U.s of heat.....also peanut oil...only oil that will handle that high a heat.... add pad thia(brand with out fish paste in it) to the wide rice noodles...but iam happy with sweet tomatos...
Posted by CJ Allan (Member # 52) on :
Do ya put that stuff on with a brush, or a roller......??
......cj
Posted by Cheryl Lucas (Member # 1656) on :
My fish-burner's so hot, it'll cause a bush fire if'n ya get too close... Bwaahahahah! I just need to find a WOK that'll hold up to the heat!
Don't you worry one iota, Joe... We aim to please... Our meat will be served on the side...hehe
Cher.

I CAN BRING WOK...mines already "seasoned"(seasoned meaning its BLACK, and i dont wash it just wipe it clean!!!!!!) and if any germs survives the heat i cook with....they be one tough mama-jammer!!!

I put a registration form on a separate post, but it won't hurt to have it in more than one place. And besides, gives a good excuse to bump this post up!
