Did a lot of cutting & pasting today going between Coreldraw 11 & Microsoft word (don't ask ... long story)
One of my bitches with corel 11 has been seeming memory leaks. I work with a new dell p4 with a gig of ddr ram, running on win 2k pro, so memory issues should be minimal, but whenever I copy a (vector) image using ctrl +c it would bring the box to its knees, sometimes taking as long as 2 minutes for this simple operation. Today I noticed that if I moused to edit>copy instead of using the shortcut keys I had no speed/memory issues ... Makes no sense at all but its measurably faster. Tried the same thing at home ... same result .. go figure

I got Corel 11 but it crashed so often I gave up and went back to corel 8. It supposedly runs on win98 but not for me!
It crashes more often than Inspire and that takes some real effort.

Well I think the one thing you should try is Paste Special and try one of the differnet options that gives you. My guess is it has more to do with MS Word and how the clip art in it are handled. As for Corel 11 being buggy well I do not know but I do remember Corel 8 and it was the worst version hands down next to version 6 and version 4 I think version 9 is the best.

I have no idea what happens with different comuters and different software. So far, for me, Corel 11 is rock solid. I had a problem related to Roland's printer driver for Win 2000 combined with Corel 10 AND 11. But there is a new driver from Roland and Corel 11 is now as stable as can be. The service patch is probably helping too!!!

Service pack was loaded a couple of weeks ago.
Delay has nothing to do with MS applications, occurs when corel is copying the graphic to the clipboard not when the image is being pasted (as a device independant bitmap) into word. Pasting directly (not as paste special) results in Corel opening the A.R.M. wizard (application recovery) but if you cancel the wizard (twice) the graphic inserts into word as an embedded corel object (as it should), but takes a long time to do so. I've also noticed that if I paste the graphic into word as a .wmf object the quality of the graphic suffers, I haven't noticed that before but I'll have to experiment with that a bit before I draw conclusions, I hope it's not an issue, I like .wmf when bridging between applications, it keeps vectors as vectors and bitmaps as bitmaps.

Hey Guys & Gals...Corel 11 Go to tools, options, commandss. Click on shortcut keys..In the command window, select your command, and give it the shortcut key you want to use... i.e. Copy...Ctrl C or any keyboard letter or number...This really works...Have fun. Joe Gluchy
