best tool I ever got was a dremel tool - good for every little job - saves your arms( get all the litttle accessories). Also get a corner cutter and a good hand operated grommet machine. Also saves time and looks more professional than the old hammer way. Remember the most expensive part of your business is LABOUR - don't waste it. A machine will usually do the work faster - isnt that why we have a vinyl cutter now?

I bought my wife a dremel tool to drill holes in shells for jewelry. It was too much of a pain, so it has sat unused for at least a year. What uses have you found in a signshop for it?

I have gone through 5 of them!
I like it,using a Flex Arm on the unit. Great for carving HDU/MDF/Acrylics/Alumiun/Steel/Glass/Wood!
Helps shape and smooth projects.
Diamond bits, grinding, sanding, carving, cutting, etching, pilot holes. It does everything except HAMMERING!
I even use it as a Electric Eraser for highlights on airbrushed work.

Sometimes, when I am demoing, someone will ask, "When no one is looking, do you ever use a dremmel?" I look at them with a puzzled look and ask....Why would I want to slow down???
I bought one 30 yrs ago.....I still have it...it will last me forever!!!
I hope this doesn't come across as a wise guy post, But I carve all day and if there was a faster way to do what I do, I would use it. I've tried hand grinders and pulsating tools (those are the tools that spend half the time going backwards??? )and I rarely use a mallet, for the same reason.
OOOPS.....back OT....this is one time that a machine is not faster.....IMHO.

I use a dremel for fine detail work.
You ever see a 1/64" drill bit?
I also have the flexible shaft with the pencil grip, makes handling it much easier.
Mostly I use mine for drilling tiny holes in the circuit boards I build, for mounting electronic components.

I use mine on HDU along with carving. Another thing I really enjoy is the cut off disc. I find it easy to handle for cutting the heads off screws and cutting bolts that are too long.

I'm with Joe. Mine is 25-30 years old and practically brand new. If I were to use it, I'd probably hurt myself.

Steve I will give you $5.00 for it and $5.00 shipping if you are interested.
