I'm trying to price repainting a wall sign. I do my pricing with the Sign Pricing Guide book, and I noticed that the "Repainted Signs" price for 200 square feet is higher than the price for a new sign painted on a wall. Can anybody tell me why a repainted sign is more work?

I was planning on modifying the existing layout a bit anyway, so its not a direct repaint. Mostly, i want to be sure i'm not overlooking something in my estimate.

Its basic white lettering on a wood wall (painted shiplap boards). we'll be painting new exterior latex background paint to match the rest of the wall (recently painted except for the area around the exisitng lettering).

All you save in time on a repaint is layout time....more than offset by repairs!

Remember, wall latex will take at least 2 coats! AND....shiplap is as bad as corrugated!
