I talked with Steve and Barb about some fundraisers for the long and costly trips that Letterville makes each year to make its presence at different meets. They have not offered any because of the conficts of interest that it might cause with its own merchants. They mentioned that T-shirts might be one of the few things that would be practical. I would add in Hats of course, henleys, and maybe ball shirts, and Diane thinks that aprons for work and panel jam meets might also be a good one, but that's all up to them.
Anyway, I would like to ask how many would be in favor of a design contest of sorts, in which they could choose 2 or 3 of them to print, and represent Letterville. Maybe we could start out with a bunch of design elements that should be used, and then run the rest of the contest from there.
I for one, feel that this could make there trips and contributions a bit more relaxing. Its got to be a very expensive tour out there, and what the hell, we need T-shirts..... Whadyathink??

I think it's a great idea too, how about a decal for the back of the car too, so that way when I drive by Si again on the freeway, he will wave at me intead of scowl, once he see's my Letterhead sticker on the back window. Rick

Jack, let's not forget ladie's shirts. Perhaps tank top or cap sleeve. I look like Mr. Kathy or Butch Joiner in a t-shirt! Some ladies wear t-shirts well some don't.
This is a great idea! Product line could be slowly increased if it flies.
Let's see, I want a purse, carry on bag, beach bag, mahl stick cover, wheel cover. Oh yes a good seller may be screened van door padlock and matching hasp!!

Well, I guess those decisions would be up to Steve and Barb, but it think for the unusual requests, just selling a good grade of heat transfer in a couple of sizes, so you can do with it as you choose might be the answer for the odd stuff.

I'd love a t-shirt. & I also love to support this great site. In fact I'd probably love the songpainter CD as well, but I never got off my but & bought one...yet.
So, if fundraising is the central goal then I think the flighty, somewhat un-focused, live-in-the-SECOND nature of this cyber-ville space we meet in needs to be taken into account.
A design contest could be be fun & could start today, but before spending money to make money, I think pre-paid orders would be the only way.
For that matter there is at least 3 designs around here that I would buy on a shirt today. The Letterville Bullboard logo shown above, the winged "keepers of the craft" logo seen as a background on several pages of this site, & the letterheads design that is the masthead for AMAL
I also think adding decals to the fundraising fun could be cool as well.
BTW Jack, I am still working on tracking down the family crest in my ancestry to do a panel. I think that idea is a keeper as well, & hope that there is still interest with others to show off what comes of it.

Last time T shirts were done, they were so slow in printing that we all gained a size between order and delivery. They had the print way huge and looked like a commercial rather than the tasteful element they were hoped to be. The layout on the top of this page would work well without the bullboard on it and without websites and phone numbers. I'd like in on that if it's done in a discrete manner.

Rick, I agree with you totally for at least one of the designs. I would like to see some new creativity for other designs. Maybe just one other to begin with, and then add with time. Its all up to Steve and Barb on the procedures.

No minimum orders, no running off products to keep in stock, no stocking anything at all and no up-front costs.. all you need is artwork, and you can upload as many designs as you wish.
Plus they have a ton of different items that can be printed.. tees, thongs (hint hint Steve - LOL), hooded jackets, sweatshirts, boxers, coffee mugs, stainless steel travel mugs, clocks, etc etc.
Everyone can get the exact item they want and nobody has to keep any of it in stock. You might pay a little more for each individual item, or the seller might make less on each product, but again, there is no stocking costs, no out-of-pocket costs, nothing.. all sales are pure profits.

Personnally, I would prefer to buy screenprinted T-shirts or sweat-shirts. And the Letterville logo would be great

Thanks for thinking about us Jack. We've had Letterville t-shirts in the planning for years. David Butler is constantly asking me for the artwork, but I keep putting it off because I'm still not satisfied with the logo. Did I mention I am an obsessive, compulsive?
This is a wonderful opportunity to clarify my idea of Letterville and how we pay the bills. Many of you know my health is not good. The last thing we want at this stage in our lives is another large business.
Our idea was to create a community where all of you could florish. Instead of us running the store, we hoped you guys would come up with designs for t-shirts, aprons or whatever and allow us to use the popularity of Letterville to market your ideas in exchange for a percentage. You make extra money and we generate more income without losing our freedom. In a nutshell...we make money by helping others make money.
Suppliers are finally starting to notice Letterville. With over 10,000 reading the BB daily, it's a very fast,cost effective method to put a face on their companies and keep us informed.
Our Residents are another good example. For an annual investment of $50, a new Resident gets all sorts of free downloads plus an opportunity to win some great stuff in our monthly Resident draws. This last year, all our Residents got a bonus! A Tramp CD worth $99. I can never understand why everyone isn't a Resident.
If you have an idea for something our users might want, please tell us about it. The cool thing about Letterville is the possibility to display your idea and/or design, sample the responce, and then decide to proceed based on that responce.
We want to thank each and everyone of you for your participation and support of Letterville, as well as your kindness to us when we are on the road. Instead of fund raising for us, think of new ways Letterville can help you. When you succeed, we grow right along with you.

Well there you have it. The program is up for grabs. Perhaps someone in our midst will choose the endevour. I think it will have to be someone who attends a lot of meets, or perhaps an already existent supplier, who wants to add a line. I have a great supplier for the shirts and a great price, if anyone wants to pursue it. I just can't get to many meets myself, or I wouldn't hesitate.

Get it touch with Steve and Barb. They are on tour right now but can respond to e-mail. Someone can cut a deal with them for the rights, and this is way they feel they want to handle it. Hopefully all, including the residents will be happy with the outcome. One for all, All for letterville.
