I got my panel hand delivered today (Sunday) by the designer! Scott Rowan of Russell Kelly Signs in Toronto made sure it arrived in one piece. He (and his family) drove about 50 miles from North of Toronto just to see the smile on my face. Now over the past 16 hours we got rain, frezing rain, and snow....lots of snow. Scott had to pick up the sign at the shop. He had to shovel his way in to the shop. While he was getting the panel the snowplow came along the street and filled in the driveway with more snow. So Scott had to shovel his way back out.

This panel is beautiful! An old style English Pub Sign on mirrored glass. Scott did the silvering work as well as airbrushing, carving, goldleaf(both brilliant and varigated), smaltz, scalloped the edge of the glass, build a wood header frame and used a few other techniques that I haven't even discovered yet. You will have to wait a few days to see the pictures because Scott has to get film delveloped and the batteries ran down on my digital today as I tried to get a good shot of it.

The best part was getting to meet the fellow that made it. Scott has a long history of making signs with Larry Wham in Banff, Alberta, in Japan and with the Russell Kelly Sign Company (purvayors of English pub style signage). His forte is glue chiping glass but he obviously has talents in many other areas. It was a real pleasure to get a first hand explanation of the methods he used and trials he had in making this. For one he broke three pieces of glass in the early stages.

I would like to publicly thank Scott for all the effort he has put into this. He made it at night after he had put in a full day of sign making with his employer and he went beyond what anyone would of expected by personally delivering it on a Sunday in the worst storm we have had this year. I already have it installed on the wall at the shop and every customer that comes in this week is going to hear the whole story!

Chuck, That is GREAT!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of how I met someone I consider one of my "BEST FRIENDS" !!!!

Dave Draper started a "Barrel Project" that each shop added something and then shipped it to the next person on the list. Don Hulsey was next after me and I decided to drive the 45 miles to deliver it in person and meet a fellow letterhead.

Except for wanting to smack him sometimes....wait, that is "HIM" wanting to smack "ME" ... it has turned into a great friendship. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Can't wait to see a picture of that panel!!

BTW,
The Ice/Snow/Rain has sloooooowed me down!!!!

I talked to the person I a making my panel for last week and explained the delay.

I planned to finish it up this weekend and ship it out early this week. Now I have a new problem!!!! I am flooded out of my workshop!!!!

The water is not into the shop or house but with all the rain/ice/snow my back yard has about 4-6" of water in it. And they are predicting 2-4" of more snow today/tonight. FUN, FUN !!!!

I am moving to Arizona!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I looked over the list of people in the panel swap, I wondered if it was THAT Scott Rowan. I can't wait to see it, I'm sure it's amazing.
