The artwork they are giving me to work from is this jpg. Rather than try to track anything else from them, I'm just gonna work with this, and recreate it. I will charge for my time, but would like to save time in doing this.
Algerian is the closest thing I've got going in my font library.
Any ideas on where to find this font or this rendering of Hemingway would be much appreciated.
I was going to just project and paint this, but I'd like to be able to have workable and sizeable art for this on file, should I get multiple such orders in the future.

Nettie the closest I can come up with is Baroque Ornamental 4438n (Photo Lettering Inc.)From the Encyclopedia of Comparative Letterforms for artists & designers written by Norman S. Weinberger.
Also in doing a search I came up with this dover link to many old world typography.

My guess would be that Sloppy Joe's is hand rendered there are too many inconsistancies, the S's, O's and P's. The smaller copy doesn't show well enough on my monitor, but the S's look to be two different sizes.

Thanks Bob, I tried to find it on a couple font search site, but no go.
George, I get that same feeling about this font.
I ended up making a large copy of it off one of their menus. It turned out far better than the jpg in crispness, and so I used it to scan from.
It's looking like I've cleared this little speedbump.

Nettie, I was just there at Sloppy's last week. I went to the Hemingway home on a tour. I saw the original from which that rendering came, but would suggest that it is probably not been done in vector, as screenprinting wouldn't require that. Nearly all items (hundreds at least) that I have seen it used on would have been in litho or seri. If there is a vector out there, I wouldn't have a clue. There have been original prints of that photo going for big bucks on Ebay lately, if you would like to try your hand at drawing it yourself. Personally, I would use a download of the real photo, and a scan of this one and try to work out a vector from them. I did one of Mark Twain from a b&w recently that turn out pretty good. I have a Corel 3, Einstein vector that is just killer, if you need a referencing file. It is one of the best vectors I have ever seen, and on one of the most difficult of subjects. I could send it to you, If you would like.
