Aloha little buddy.

I loved my dogs a little extra yesterday. & probably from here on out as well. Sorry for the sad day Cheryl, but I must say the outpouring of understanding & sympathy from so many animal lovers here, was an enlightening experience for this somewhat new member of the dog-owner population.

Honest to God Cheryl, I've been thinking about you all day. I too went home yesterday and gave my dog some extra attention, and some Cheese, cause she loves cheese.

Hey Cheryl,

Hang in there chic. I know it's tough. I dread the day. I was never allowed to have a dog as a kid and as soon as I had my own house I got a puppy. He's my first born! HE HE!

I looked at the photo of Astro that you posted and had to take a deep breath. He looks EXACTLY like the silver buff cocker spaniel that I had when I was growing up, Misty. She died almost 20 years ago. For my birthday this year, my mom had this awesome photograph of a buff cocker framed for me and it's hanging on the wall here in my office.

Three years ago, I also lost my beloved cat, Max, when he was hit by a car. He had been with me for twelve years - the pain I felt that day was unlike any I have ever experienced. My heart goes out to you Cheryl, I can't imagine the sorrow you are feeling today. How are the kids doing with it?

Know that you are in my thoughts today.

As soon as you're ready go to the puppy store. There's another one waiting for someone like you!

for astro

Cheryl,

Just alittle tribute to your little guy, using most of your own words, and one of your photos.
Please accept it with my sincerity.

I’ve been feeling for you today, and yes, my pets have been getting extra attention too.

Nettie

My Dad told me we all have to die sometime. So now my little buddy is in heaven with Dad.

I want to thank you all for your help and kind words. I knew this morning at 4am that Astro couldn't go on anymore. His breathing just wasn't right.
I combed his little head, and gave him water. My son and I said our good byes. My daughter was at a friends and I called her, but decided to say good bye to Astro for her.
On the ride to the vet, Astro put his little head on my arm. We drove in second gear the whole way, but 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th don't matter anyway. Once again my little man was comforting me. And in his little way, was letting me know it was alright.

I learned one thing today. I am not nearly as tough as I thought. Not even close. My heart is broken in pieces. I feel like the crap has been beaten out of me. But it is not about me. Astro gave so much love. Even when his body was old and frail with almost every bit of life sucked out of him. Thank you Astro. I love and miss you little man. I will remember you tumbling over your big feet. The ones God gave you to balance out your big heart. I hope you had a good life. Love, Moma

I think I will just take a break for awhile. Be back in a few days.

Oh Cheryl, I'm so sorry. It hurts. And then slowly it gets better. I have lost three dogs, four counting one from my childhood, and the pain is bad. It's because they love us so much and never talk back. They make fools of themselves to please us, and they forgive everything.

On the other hand, he had a wonderful life. And there was no need to prolong it when it was no longer wonderful

Thinking about you!!!

I'm so sorry Cheryl. Pets are absolutely one of the family, and give the most unconditional love of all.

I'm thinking about you and your kids.

Rest In Peace Astro.

You think dogs will not be in heaven?
I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.

I sat and stared at the pictures on your site of Astro, and just thought of all the great times and fun and love that little dog brought to you.
I cant say anything to make it better, other than God Bless his little heart.
I have a cocker that looks alot like Astro, his name is Copper. He is young yet, and playful as all get out.
Losing a friend like Astro is as hard a part of life as anything else. IF not harder.
God Bless you too Cheryl.

Thank you Cheryl for sharing this painful experience with us. The outpouring of understanding, sympathy, and love from everyone enriches all of us. You and Astro will be in my heart, sealed with the tears I've cried reading these posts. There is a wonderful website called
www.animalsinourhearts.com, "To Nurture the People Who Love, Serve and Grieve Animals." Teresa Wagner has lots of great resources for people who are mourning a deep loss such as yours. Namaste.
