I'm running windows ME.2 Gig machine. I've tried every configuration and still cpu won't see this printer.3 different printer cables that all work with my HP Deskjet.Tried normal,EPP,ECP and ECP & EPP.Checked irq and dma settings.Still no good.Not having a good day Any Ideas? Thanks Steve

Steve, It could be your settings in your cmos, or you could not be using a bidirectional cable, also I have had problems when using an a-b switch, to use one printer on two computers, if the ab box is not bidirectional. I'm not a computer expert, but these are problems I have had. Usually my software folks, have helped me find the problem. Maybe it's time to pick up the phone. Bill

Things to try: Use your DOS commands to send a text line to the desired printer port (LPT1, LPT2 etc). See if the printer responds to the command. Download and try install the latest driver from Encad for Win ME. If you are running a Rip tell the RIP the printer port and try that. Remove all printer drivers. Install only the Encad driver from the Encad site. Try differnt Printer cables, sometimes a wire is broken that one printer uses but another printer does not need and so one printer works with the cable and another does not. Flash the Encad printer with the latest firmware from Encad through the parallel cable... from a win 98 machine. Try Encads DOS tests on the ME machine, they are go.exe and test files.
