Randy Campbell's post re. the cost of attending Letterhead meets got me thinking...

I'm in the very early stages of planning an expanded ND GRAPHICS RoadShow schedule for spring/summer/fall.

Last October, our "SK RoadShow" co-hosted a "mini-meet" in Regina -- in partneship with Marty Happy and his gang of "Living Sky" Letterheads...which was (I thought) pretty successful for what was a first-time effort at what we all agreed will become an annual event.

I have no idea what the attendees out-of-pocket expenses were (maybe some of my Saskatchewanian friends can pipe in here) but I do think that everyone felt their money was well spent.

Perhaps we can replicate this event in other parts of the country...assuming that there is an interest from all of the Canadian 'heads out there.

Tentatively speaking, the RoadShow will make stops in the following areas:
-Vancouver Island
-BC Lower Mainland
-BC Interior
-Edmonton, AB
-Calgary, AB
-Saskatoon & Regina, SK
-Winnipeg, MB
-NEAR NORTH Region of Ontario
-South-Western Ontario
-Eastern Ontario
-Montreal & Quebec City, PQ
-New Brunswick
-Nova Scotia

Please post your thoughts/suggestions here, or drop me an e-mail.

Hey Jon, good to hear from you.
I was very pleased with that meeting, even though there wasn't many of us. No big expenses involved, just room for one night, a couple of meals and some gas money. I probably spent no more than about $120 in total for the weekeend.
We were in fact more generously treated than I thought possible. Free drinks and snacks from the ND Graphics folks, a great Italian dinner (which I would have loved to enjoy...), the whole line of 1Shot paints, goldleaf and other great stuff to play with. Btw, who ever payed for the printed glass pieces that we were working with? Was that you too?
Hopefully I'm not getting you into trouble by listing all this, are you prepared to handle similar costs and efforts for your other Roadshows?
Thank you again for everything,it was great. Nothing to complain about at all. And thanks, Marty and Pat, for all the work you guys put into this.
Can we do it again? Pretty please? [Smile]

If you are going to Calgary, AB then be sure to count me in. I think going to a meet like that would be really a great experience! I would love to go to one of those bigger meets as well. All in good time!

Just Curious Jon, are you aware that Newfoundland is a Canadian Province as well. LOl. Canada does not end at Halifax, as a matter of fact Canada begins in St. John's, so that being said is it possible to include St. Johns? Be advised that this is said with Humor in mind.. but not too much Humor.

It only takes two people to have a Letterhead meet....any more than that is just icing on the cake.

Jon, if you go to Vancouver in the summer, I need to get my passport renewed and drive up for a social visit. Sounds like fun. Vic G

A little clarification:
Jon and his crew supported our meet in every way, but you will still need someone to organize the meet, find a suitable location, build easels, send out invitations, etc. Hope it will work out for you guys who are interested. Wouldn't it be nice to have many small meets all over the country, maybe even Newfoundland??
(you owe me Neil [Wink] )

Waddayamean "Even Newfoundland".. lol. Yes Lottie if anyone came to Newfoundland they would think they died and went to heaven. We have the greatest scenery on Earth, the cleanest Air, Great Fishing, Frendliest People, and a Long History, afterall this is where John Cabot first Landed when He came to the new world from Europe. That was in 1497.

Hi Guys.

Thanks for the responses so far.

The tentative list is a TENTATIVE list...and I have a limited amount of resources to work with, so it will very likely be trimmed. That being said, if we can continue to build on the program successfully, the goal is to make it a truly National event...including Newfoundland.

As a matter of fact Neil -- on a personal level -- there is nowhere I would rather go than Newfoundland. My family origins (maternally) passed through Moreton's Harbour a couple of generations ago. I've also always meant to make it to the Sound Symposium held in St John's every other year...and then there is the subject of screetch.

Lotti is absolutely right! Marty Happy and Pat & Ruth Welter did alot (all of it) of planning and work to make the Living Sky event into a Letterhead "meet" There is NO QUESTION that we would absolutely need someone to "co-host" any similar events with us (we have enough on our plate with the RoadShow, believe me...ask anyone who watched us load our AXYZ router onto the rental truck using the silly little hydrolic gate it came equipped with).

I won't have any plans finalized until May, so let's keep this discussion going and see what we might be able to pull together. It would be great if any 'heads who joined us at the NEAR NORTH RoadShow or at Rendez-Vous Quebec had some thing to say on the subject...we're coming back this year!

Hi.
New to Letterville and I like what's here. Friendly enough place, and lots of info. Interested in a meet on Vancouver Island, or anywhere in BC. Keep me in the loop if possible.

Thanks

Hey Peter....go outside...face south...wave!!!!!!!

I'm just across the Strait from ya!!

I'm planning on going to Susan's meet...so is Jackson Smart.

We are going to have a meet here in 2004, we will let you know when.

We also are trying to get a small, informal get together here in Port Angeles monthly, you are more than welcome to join us...I will be happy to pick you up at the Ferry if you want to walk on.

Vic, you don't need a passport to go to Canada, but you WILL need your birth certificate to proove you are an resident of the US.

Jon, if you come to Newfoundland, I will personally "Screetch" you in as an Honoury Newfoundlander. So are you a musician as well? If you are there's no question that the Talent here is Unbelievable, we have our own style of music, and lots of Bars that you can visit to get a taste of it as well.

Count me in for Winnipeg.
I have attended two meets in Minneapolis hosted by N Glantz, and they were great.
