Hi all, I have to paint a logo on a curtain side trailer. It is made from a heavy vinyl, banner like material. I am planning to use 1 Shot and was wondering if ther are any special considerations as far as surface prep. I should know about? The dealer says it is enamel receptive. Do I have to prime or just clean and paint? The trailer is on a 3 yr lease and the logo needs to be removed or covered at the end. Can this paint be removed or must it be painted over ( the trailer is white, the paint dk.green, the dealer has agreed to the paint over the logo option).

Dan, I would not expect the vinyl to be enamel receptive. I work with a shop that does these all the time and they mask and spray thinned down NazDar vinyl silk screen inks with some flex additives. However these inks are quite permanent and I doubt that they are removable after three years.
I would not hold myself responsible to remove the logos aftter three years time. I can tell you that the nice white vinyl will not be white, but rather a nice shade of gray.
All in all, I would not expect you to have a good experience with 1-shot. If you want, you could always do a test panel. Frog juice may work but given the harsh conditions in which a semi trailer will be subject to, if you do, I would have some doubts. Anyway, clean...clean...clean the area. Use alcohol and a lot of clean rags.
I would reccomend that the trailer company consider just repainting the 'soft-side' vinyl trailer sides after the term of the lease, if the vinyl is still in servicible condition. Or cheap way would be to have them just paint over the logo area with say a black panel.

Thanks Curt, My customer is aware that the only likely option at lease end is to paint over the logo and that it won't be a perfect match. If the cover isn't enamel receptive, I would like to know what to prep the surface with and if I should use some sort of primer.
