I would to know what is the script font used on some Harley-Davidson tanks?

Desire.....do you have a photo of the lettering in question that you can post here?

Sadly not
My customer erased it before I was able to take a photo of it [Frown]

I'm pretty sure there is no font for H-D script.

They started with hand lettering, and began making the decals when production demands made it too impractical to continue by hand.
They did stay with the same style though...

You can scan in a pic from their advertising and copy it, or contact a dealer and try to just get a decal.

Hope this helps...........cj

Actually I know very little about it since it's a query from a bodybuilder/painter who is repainting a H-D for one of his customers.

Maybe, it was a custom Harley-Davidson lettering and not an original.

I've found that the font "Magneto" from FontBureau was used on a H-D fans site. I could be pretty close. But I hesitate to download a 40$ font if it's not the right one.
My wife saw the H-D but not I. [Frown]

Check you e-mail - I sent you a screenshot of all the Harley Logos I have. They are the official files. Pick what you need and I'll send the .eps file of it.

Desire..........

When a customer does that to me....I tell him to get me the "EXACT" artwork he wants.......I ain't no mind reader, and it ain't my job to research his project !!

Otherwise...I'll put whatever the hell "I" want on it.

If you let customers make you jump through hoops after they lost the artwork........They'll have ya jumpin long and high.....

Same with reproducing Company Logos, if it's their company......THEY have to come up with the "Correct" artwork...!!

H-D does NOT use computer fonts on their tank logos- the masters are hand-rendered and then decals are printed (for Sportsters) or in the case of my Softail, the logo appears to be directly screenprinted on the tank somehow. This ensures no decal ridge under the clear. Read an article about H-D's logo design team a while back.

I don't know the full history behind the font, but maybe you can use this for an example.

Thank you all for your help and advices, I really appreciate this.

I'm more and more convinced it was a custom lettering.
The bodypainter will try to get a picture from his customer.

Many thanks from the snowy and freezing moutains of Swiss Jura (sic!)
