Hello
I have just upgraded to omega 1.56 and when i print a sketch to my Epson stylus 1200 the white letters or clear boxes come out grey.Gerber doesn't know what to do can anyone help?

The default background colour is grey, have you tried changing that , and then trying to print.

It's something I had experienced awhile back when going from GA to Omega.

Just a thought here, Have you adjusted your color settings in Omega? when I get to the office I will check exactly where they are.

hi,

i know that bugged me too...i think i changed the color of white vinyl to clear when that issue came up...and if that doesn't work what i do sometimes is export it as a jpeg and print it out in corel 10..and i know that works.

You can also play around with your black and white filter settings and this may help.

TJ has it.

In Omega, you want to go to..."File/Color Management/Black-White Filter".

In the "Black-White Filter" window, you have 3 options: "Monitor Filter", "Printer Filter", and "Vinyl Printer Filter (CMYK).

Try adjusting your threshold settings.

-------

In color printing, there are no easy answers. Each printer has its own personality. I can purchase two identical printers from the same manufacturer. Even though I used the exact same settings, it is not uncommon for the results of one printer to vary from the other.

--------

I hope this helps.

I have a question for some of the Gerber Edge experts/users, as I have not used Gerber software in 4 or 5 years. Does anyone know the latest version of Adobe Illustrator EPS files that will import correctly through the current Gerber filter? Someone told me that Gerber does not like EPS files later than Illustrator version 5.5. I found this hard to believe because 5.5 is several years old and Illustrator is all the way up to version 10.

Andrew,

I've not had any problems. However, Omega does seem to have a problem opening an AI file from Illustrator version 9 and 10.

I save down to .ai 6 because 8 did not work. I upgraded to Omega 1.56 & probably never tried an .ai 8 file since then, so maybe it works now.

I spoke to Gerber tech today an was told that 6.0 or earlier for Adobe Illustrator AI or EPS files. These are files for designs of a new print cut product that we are developing, and when saved in Illustrator 9 they are less than two megs because 9.0 is so much better at reducing file size (compression technology borrowed from Acrobat). In Illustrator 6.0 the very same files are 15 to 20 megs, which of course means that we have to use multiple CD disks if we wish to offer the products to Gerber users as EPS or AI. I do not knoe if native PLT files would be much better but will try that in the AM.

Can any of you help me out? I just wiped out omega, and re-installed 1.56. Now when I print a proof, the file name, and the scale and dimmensions are not printing at the top of the page. Any pointers?

Brian, in the Print dialog there should be an "options" tab. Select what you want and hit preference. That should do it.
