We have to install a set of 9" tall 3/4" thick pvc letters to an exterior wall that is made out of marble tile. Normally we use silicone to adhere letters to most wall surfaces. However I read once that there is a better type of adhesive to use on stone. Which one?

Clear silicone is pretty good choice for exterior marble. I have heard that their are some types of marble that silicone will stain in a way that is not removeable. Never had it happen to me. You might also try the very high bond "VHB" double sided foam tape from 3M. Not as messy as silicone and will likely go up faster. With silicone we put a "band aid" over the larger letters until it has cured to temporary hold them to the wall. Usually takes between 1/2 hr and hr on a sunny warm day to get the silicone cured. You have to make the band aids ( we use paper towel parts and green painters tape ) and you have to go back up the ladder to take the tape down. With VHB tape the bandaids are generally not necessary. The tape does dry out eventually and may release the letter a few years down the road in a good windstorm.

Thats all. I will go back to sniffing Rapid Remover now!
