I have had problems with enamel paint lifting when removing application tape after applying the vinyl. I use primer and Chromatic High Performance white enamel as background color. The primer stays but enamel releases. Any suggestions or reasons why this is happening? This has happened even after 2 days of drying of the enamel.

The easy way to explain this is that it the enamel wasn't cured like you think it was.....the top layer closed over and skinned b4 what was underneath had adequate time to be exposed to oxygen and cure. That could be from a buncha diff factors ranging from no catalyst to what you reduced it with,the temp in the shop,temp of the substrate,humidity,stuff like that. Why it happens can vary from job to job,more info could get ya a more specific answer from me or someone else,otherwise it could become a guessing game.

That sounds like a bonding problem between the top coat and primer,...was the primer sanded properly? If so was it prepped to remove any dust or contamination? Is there a possible cause of contamination between the priming and puting on the top coat? All can cause what you describe.

Now's a perfect time to start using vinyl screenprinting ink instead of paint, you'll never have this problem again if you do!

Paint not sticking to the primer? Well quit using primer and paint, switch to ink.. Problem solved! No questions about material compatibility, no problems caused by environmental situations.. no problems whatsoever! I like having a problem-free life, makes things easier!
Hey man, I don't huff the ink either....... I shoot it directly into my forearms.

you say ENAMEL but dont say if its oil or latex. as for a primer iam a KILZ oil base person. stuff works. as for paint lifting...ive had similar problems with latex and oil base if i try to work to soon on it. i paint mdo panels with automotive acylic enamel.....with a KILZ primer and never have a problem. also seein where you are at....could be a temp vairible....if the board was cold when you painted it, the binding between the primer and paint wont happen...the paint will just lay on the primer without any bonding....
