I'm having a new computer built and want to use Intel's new P4 w/ Hyper-threading technology. The OS will be Windows XP Pro and will be using Omega 1.56 for my vinyl cutting & Edge2 printing. Does anyone know if there would be any problems/conflicts w/ my Gerber stuff or any other problems before I jump in! Any help would be most appreciated! Karen

Hiya Karen, It sounds impressive if you're into multitasking with various applications and crunching some large files. But, it just may be the latest gimmick to get us to buy new hardware. Supposedly if your software is compatible with XP, you're fine. I'd double check with Gerber to be sure though. As far as I know, the only chip that has hyper threading right now is their new 3.06GHZ chip. It's about $800 just for the chip! You would also need a motherboard that specifically supports hyper threading.
Here is a quote from the Intel web site: "Hyper-Threading Technology requires a computer system with an IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 processor at 3.06 GHz or higher, a chipset and BIOS that utilize this technology, and an operating system that includes optimizations for this technology. Performance will vary depending on the specific hardware and software you use."
