The end of the year is always a time for me to reflect and look back a little. It's because I finally slow down a little from my usual fast pace and take a breather.

This year I'm reminded by the job I've just taken on how much I still have to learn in this business. I need to constantly grow in my skills and experience.

I've been involved in a lot of cool projects through the years... every one a bit bigger and more complex than the one before it. While I always thoroughly enjoy the project I'm on, I always know the next one will be even more of a challenge. Lessons and skills learned yesterday will be put to the test on today's project for sure, as well as a few tricks I will learn this time around.

My career and job description has morphed through the years. I would have a tough time doing the same thing day in and day out. I need to be challenged constantly, and to go to the very edge of my abilities and beyond on each job. I enjoy the contact of very talented and skillful people around me. I'm the sponge that soaks it all up.

So as I sit back and relax a little this holiday season with friends and family I look forward to an exciting year of growth and learning next year. I also look forward with great anticipation to the challenges I know will be waiting for me too.

And through it all I will continue to grow.

Have a blessed Christmas season everyone! I wish each of you a challenging and FUN new year!

Good for you, Dan. You offer a lot of inspiration to us with your fun projects, and I am sure that you went through a lot of painstaking labor and mistakes to learn and accomplish each and everyone of them. I hope you are making a diary as you go, it would be an asset to others making a similar climb as you. Have a wonderful and blessed season with your family, too, kick back and relish the moment.
