We took a much needed break a few days ago and made a trip to SantaFe and Taos, NM. It was so nice up there in the mountains at this time. Woke up the first morning in Taos to their first snow in town (6").
The number of art galleries in those two towns is amazing! I drooled over all kinds of great art, sculpture, glass and fine crafts. We just don't have that caliber and quantity here in west OK.
I wanted to visit some local sign shops but we just didn't have the time. Any sign artists or otherwise on here from that area? We'll be going back again and I would like to visit you.

Preston McCall has posted here quite a bit in the past but I don't think I've seen him lately. He announced his plans to open a fine arts gallery in Santa Fe. I probably spelled his name wrong, but the gallery may have used his name. I'm sure a search for Santa Fe will bring up his posts.
In 1994 I worked at John King's "The Paper Tiger" in Santa Fe. Pretty much a vinyl based sign shop, that also had a more extensive printing company in the same building & staff of 3 typesetters/designers just for printing. I came in as the sign assistent, & later ran the show with an assistent to help me. John had 2 branches in that relatively small town, & I feel quite sure he would still be there.
Deluxe Engraving & Screenprint is a real fun bunch of folks just north of Albuquerque. (less then an hour from Santa Fe) They hired me to start up their vinyl sign department. They had a very sucessful engraved sign business doing a huge amount of work for the Intel plant 2 miles from their shop. As you will see from the website, there is some very talented Letterhead-type folks there. (Although they have more often been known to go by the term deadheads )

If you go through Albuquerque look up a guy named Bob Dunn. He calls himself Bobbo and must be in the book as Bobbo's Arts & Letters - or some such. He's a crusty old buzzard but a damn fine pinstriper and sign painter. You can tell him I said the 'Buzzard' part... , but not the rest.

I have met Bobbo Dunn at Fred's meet in OKC. I also know Bob Padilla from Albuquerque. We are good friends and we paid him a visit. He's a great guy and artist and he travels to alot of meets slinging paint and loves to make panel art. I plan on going to Joey Hutson's Swampland Panel Jam with Bob in Jan.
