First of all, I really want to thank everyone who gave me input on my last question a couple of days ago. After reading your responses and several articles I am restating my question...see what you think.
I can see that many people have had great success with using the CorelDRAW/Roland combination. There are differences of opinion, however, about whether to just load the driver off the Roland website or use CoCut as the interface.
Since I am a beginner and need to get things up and running soon, do you think the CoCut approach would be more straight-forward?
If so, do you know the cheapest place to get the CorelDRAW 11 + CoCut Combo?

I advertized on another sign board for a used copy of cocut pro 9. It took a couple of weeks to get the first response. then a bunch came in. got several legal copies. and resold all but one copy. Got the corel 10 & 11 updates from cocut.
I paid as little as $120 bux for cocut pro 9 and as much as $300..
good deal. I really LIKE cocut..
Cutting directly from corel is OK. but.. once u use cocut you will be so happy.. The power weed feature alone makes weeding at least 5 times faster.... I am not exagerating

Jennifer, I think you are going to need the Roland driver, just to get the machine to work at all, or at least correctly. Then you can worry about your cutting software, such as Cocut or cutting directly from Corel which I do. I might look into the Cocut in the future, but have been happy with the Roland/Corel combo without the extra bux. Jack

Hi Jennifer:
CoCut does work in XP. I don't believe that the Roland Windows printer driver does, however, Roland Tech Support is the best source for an answer to that question (they may have something in beta).
Also, CoCut's CorelDRAW 11 support is coming any day now. Currently it supports everything up to 10, as well as Adobe Illustrator and FreeHand. (the 11 version will be a free upgrade). They're really good about staying up with current versions as well as operating systems.
