I've lurked behind the scenes for a while, picking up as much information as I can, especially on digital printing.
There has been a lot of debate on the pros and cons of the Edge/Colourcamm etc, but I am cosidering going down the inkjet road and wonder if anyone here uses the Graphtec Signjet Pro?
I've seen some it's output (but that was produced by the manufacturers) and I've read the brochures.
What I would really like is to hear from an actual real-life user with regard to it's performance, maintenance requirements, running costs etc. Also, what range of products are you producing with it?
Any thoughts gratefully received.

I wouldnt recommend the signjet pro for any outdoor usage at all. And if you dont plan on using it daily, dont buy it.(its a real pain to unclog the cartridges if they are not used daily)
Hindsight being 20/20, I would have bought the edge or camm a few years ago instead.
On the upside, it is a pretty good cutter, but than again my summa is better and faster in that department

Phil I have been a handwriter for the past 18 years and went through the processes of going from handwriting to vinyl cutter to solvent printing and I love it! I actually had a Roland pc-60 and found it too expesive for the body of work I was doing, sold out and got myself a Roland Soljet. I have had it for 4 months now and this thing has not stopped signcity1@bigpond.com Signity australia

Signjet Pro - It is a pain to unclog the tubes. It's a great cutter. The new model has 600dpi printing. There are outdoor inks which last up to 6 months. That plus some kind of coating is best. This machine is good for cutting big and tiny! It does a wonderful job on less than .5" letters. It's good for a nice quality print job.
Color Camm...too expensive in production costs and can't do big color jobs because of banding issues. The upside is that it's great for decals the size of your hand and you don't have to use any uv protection.
Edge...Most expensive. Better production costs. Better results. You can do bigger jobs.
Of the three, it's the Signjet Pro, if you're going to be printing frequently and are able to apply coating (i.e. frog juice). Can't just print on any white vinyl like the other two. Otherwise, the Edge.

I hear that the PC-60 isn't made to do big jobs, but I do it quite a bit. I've done murals for the back of motorhomes and the biggest was a 71/2' x 7/12 ft sunburst. Posted by Phil White (Member # 3393) on :

I've considered the Soljet but was put off by the attitude of Roland UK, whose head office is literally just down the road, but who really are not interested in dealing with any enquiries.
