I finally reeled in a job for this weekend. Unfortunatly I priced it before all of your great responses on the other part of the forum.
But here is the deal Do you guys think that $200.00 dollars is to little to remove the lower moulding from a 98 Chevy Ext. cab Short bed and the badging on the rear and then doing a sort of tatoo style graphic job on the bottom section of the truck (below the lower body line) and a simular effect on the tailgate. I will be using trusty 1-shot lettering enamel for the paint work. And my Heat gun usually makes quike work of the moulding on the sides.
What would you charge? I live in Ohio.

Well first I would have had him use a body shop to remove the molding...that's just me, as far as the graphics, if I were going vinyl, with a stock image, no scanning of his hairy back for the tattoo image, I would start at about 200..so I guess you'd be a little low to me, as far as paint are you hand painting or cutting a stencil? if hand painting with a basic patern I would start at about 350 and doing it in stencil from vinyl I would start at about 425...

For a Little perspective. Some guys get $120 to run two 1/8th inch stripes around a truck. I think you are real low. I would want $350-$550.

Price according to what your quality of work and you think you are worth. NOT what the customer is willing to pay!

$200 is bare minimum for me, this sounds more like it would be around $300-$450. To remove the moulding I would charge by the hour on top of the graphics price with a 1 hour minimum. I agree with Pat, price what you are worth, and don't lowball just to get the jobs, do you want to be known as the cheapest or the best? If people tell you are too expensive ,ask them compared to what? There is a shop here that seems to do everything for next to nothing, all vinyl and Edge printing, they would do this for around $125 or so at the most. At that price I can be more profitable sitting on the couch!

Scot....sounds like a pricing guide is what you need. There are several to choose from. Your price sounds low to me too.

Cheryl is right. Pricing Guide is a MUST for any and all professionals. You will be able to show the customer the cost in printed Black and White. While Guiding through prices required for such work!
Next you will hear.."you guys got a BOOK?"

I, too, think the price is way low. But since you and the customer have agreed to it, and since you are just "starting out", give the guy a $500 job. Make the opportunity work for YOU. Do a great job, and more will follow. Then you will have a better idea on how much you need to make on the next one. BTW, I would have charged the customer $100 just to remove the mouldings.
