Make sure to open your mouth and introduce yourself to anyone and everyone. Bring your brushes if you have some. Slop some paint and make new friends. WARNING!!! This may become addictive!

Hey Scot,
Bring the wife, and come on down. You may feel lost for a few minutes, until you walk up to someone and say Hi My name is Scot. After that you will know everyone. Egos are checked at the door, so newbie or old timer everybody is on the same level.
You will learn a lot, and possibly teach someone something.

We're always looking for new ways to intice potential Letterheads to attend their first meet. Mark mentioned the Past Meets Page. Let's take a closer look at what that is all about.
Letterhead/PinHead Meets come in all sizes. Since 1995, we have been trying to chronicle as many meets as possible. The Past Meets Page has links to many past meets around the World. Some are big and some are small, but each have their own special flavour. Take a look at the photos and read over the text. Many of these reports are written by someone attending their first meet.
There's something new you all might want to investigate. We've been experimenting with showing video from live meets on HeadTV. Last week it was the Coupe du Main meet, and just last night, we played the video taken in Mazeppa back in 1999. Watch this BB for information on what and when we will be showing next. If you have videos from past meets, you want to share, mail us a copy.
Here's hoping we get to shake your hand soon at your first meet Scott.

- - - - - >>> WOW <<< - - - - -
was all I could say after my first meet at Mike Sheehan's Classic Sign and Mirror in Pensacola, FL way back in 1989,,,, I think.
I met Ralph Gaither, Vince Balisteria, Gary Godby, John Cox, Gary Anderson, Mike Facemire, Ken Milar, Noel Weber, Rick Glawson, Paul White, Jay Cooke, and my mind goes blank now just thinking of the greats I have met at these meets..... These guys are so "un-intimidating" because there is absolutely NO pressure of competition at these meets. Go, and enjoy the most fabulous weekend you have EVER had !!!
Oh, yeah .. . there might be SOME trucks there, too.
OH - OH - OHHHHHH . .. I forgot our most Honorable Mayor and Mayorette. . . .Steve & Barb !!! Two of the most awesome folks you would ever want to meet !!! PLUS !!!! They make all this happen for US !!! Yup... awesome !!!

Oh, I'm sorry .. . your question was " what happens at a letterhead meet ". Well, we sit/stand around, eat a buncha junk food, talka buncha trash and have a great time !!! The show is WELL worth the price of admission. Oh, if it don't move, it just might get painted or striped !!

best time you will ever have. Posted by Cheryl Lucas (Member # 1656) on :
Scot,
At Don & Dora's Dixie meet, you have room to walk, watch and listen. You will have the chance to meet and talk with everyone there!
You'll see Pat King, with his back to you most of the time, putting out some awesome 'Way up North' hand lettered panels.
You'll learn something you didn't think you needed to know and you'll teach something to someone, you didn't think they needed to learn.
You will come away from the meet so inspired, you won't know what to do with yourself.
Ahhhh, and you'll meet some of the finest folks this side of Texas!
Cher.

Don't believe any of the crap these guys are telling you! This is what really happens at Letterhead meets: You get there and are greeted at the the door by some smileing attendee then you pay your admission and WHAM! the door is slammed behind you and your wisked away to a room with all the other newbies. Then you are forced to give up all your earthly possesions and put on this salmon colored robe, you then get your head shaved and learn to sing some wierd chant while you play the tamborine, eventually you'll go to enough meets to earn the right to wear different colored robes ( Proper Purple ) signifies the highest rank of the letterhead organization. in the mean time between meets you earn points by selling Amway and Tupperware and some even sell flowers at the airport all the while luring new people into the "FAMILY". Your own family will try and break your spirit by locking you in your own house and hold an Intervention to "SAVE" you, But you have to be strong! You'll learn ways to Hide the real truth by making up stories about Learning new things in the "SIGN" trade and all the fun you had meeting new "People" and how helpful they where to you and how you felt like you where part of a family ( ) right away! You will be given a guide book with all the answers so when people quiz you you can come up with the answers instantly like: What is the correct way to glue chip a glass sign, and other tough questions like what color thong does Steve wear. So go ahead, go to a Letterhead meet, go on! But don't say I didn't warn you! Mike

Dang, Mike... And I wuz just tryin to break em in gently.......an you went and gave away almost half of what really happens.............. Sure hope they don't find out the rest...........
Oh, By the way........I hope nobody got the idea that the butts that get painted are the newbies..........Cause its all the old-timers that paint their own butts, and make all the new guys watch............!! It's caused some trauma in the past, but swallowing goldfish seemed too tame.

Is George Perkins coming? Cause there's this secret thing that happens to whatever he's driving at the meets. But we can't tell you what. It's a secret known only to letterheads who have been at meets with George. Posted by Si Allen (Member # 420) on :

Posted by George Perkins (Member # 156) on :
I haven't reponded as to whether or not I'm coming, cause if I do it's gonna be a last minute deal. We're still racing but a rain out will have me there for sure. One thing is for certain, I'll be parking a few miles away and arriving on a Schwinn:)

Scot, Other than the endless chanting and blue-butts, you can expect to meet some interesting and inspirational people who are there primarily to answer any question you have, show you any technique they know, and commiserate way into the night about this nutty business we're in. You'll have this weird "Letterhead Buzz" when you get back home and you'll find yourself trying new things you thought you couldn't do before. For the next few weeks, little tips and tricks you subconsciously picked up will find their way into your daily routine. Then, you'll be looking for the next meet with an insatiable desire to learn more. At that point, you're hooked - we own your soul!!! But it's Ok, because that's when you get the green robe.

And Sonny Franks will play the washboard. He's been up all night practicing.
