Around here I get things happening like suddenly I have three lawyer signs in a row, or the last 5 signs were all blue. Or last week everthing was in the same part of town. You know, like some sort of cycle thing was happening. next week its vehicular work. It reminded me about a day last Sept. Another signguy called to ask if there was anyway I could come over for a day and help him do a stepvan. Of course I agreed, and the next morning there i was with him and another signperson. All three of us picked a side and the back, and we were painting away when the news about a plane hitting the WTC came in on the radio. All sorts of images flashed through my mind of 911 calls and ambulances. later the first tower collapsed..my God, all those people. We stepped away to talk for a minute when we realized... all three of us had just painted large red 911's on the truck! Weird or what? Then later I realized it was the 11th day of the 9th month, 911 again.(the truck was for a company called 911 plumbing) It seems funny that the sign business is sometimes full of "signs" Anyone else notice stuff like that?

Jeff, that is eerie. No story to add, just wanted to say you creeped me out. A little TOO coincidental for me.

Jeff....that is kinda creepy.
But I know what you mean. Sometimes a ton of beauty salons call all at once. Sometimes espresso stands all call in a week.

I can't explain it,but over the years it has always been that when a job for gold leaf comes along a few usually follow. The same with all the othe types of signs. Windows, walls, trucks, et.Are we living in the twilight zone?

Sometimes it works out good. Sometimes I don't have enough stuff for an order mimimum, and just guess at a few things I might need. Last week i got extra 12x18 aluminum blanks with a 50 yd roll of blue. This week I got a call for three of the blanks and then a 20ft trailer tahat gets guess what...blue. Not always that "lucky" though. By the way,I don't see these coincidentals as being eerie, just fascenating. It's like its part of what makes this business so fascinating for me.

I'll go a month or 2 sometimes without doing any MDO signs which is fine because I have an air conditioned office where I can make good money on edge prints & applying vinyl to smaller ready made substrates. But then I'll get an MDO order & usually before I get the saw horses out & start cutting, I get more panels approved allowing me to drag them outside & cut them all together, then prime &/or finish coat them same time as well.
Other times I'll be thinking, "I haven't done any magnetics in a month" but after I pull that 75 lb roll out from under the bench, I'll get another order or 2. Also I have seen the ocassion when ordering 50 yards of a new color, even when 10 was enough, will result in another client needing a lot of that color.
I had 3 competing health-care clients work in my shop all one time, & other similar occurances, but except for these type coincidences, my take on the eerie side of this is that we somewhat sub-conciously apply the desire for effeciency & convenience, & cost effectiveness in our selling process, & may be steering, to some degree, what work comes our way.
For the completely twilight zone angle, we are mentally steering those clients timely arrival with their convenient needs before they even walk in the door, just like we are creating most of the overall sucess or lack-thereof in our lives.

Jeff, you're off the hook, now DOUG's creepin me out! Hahaha No, actually Doug, I get exactly what you're saying and truly believe it. We can do nearly anything pretty much in concert with how well we're tuned into that frequency. It's unusual to hear it mentioned in logical society where intellect and reason are the norm, so thanks for the reminder.

I'm with Doug on this one. Sending that mental energy "out to the cosmos" is amazingly effective. <<insert appropriate Twilight Zone theme music here>>

Hey Diane,
I could hear the music if those voices in my head would just shut up for a minute...
Have a great one!

Bruce, you just have to teach the voices in your head the words to go along with the music.
