Is anyone familiar with the "bags" or covers for billboards? I need one 24'x8' with graphics on both sides. Where do you get them?
Thanks

Do You mean Flex Face Vinyl! Do you want a
digital print or a enamel receptive face so
You can paint on it.

As usual the client is trying to save $$ so, whatever is "cheapest" but will last 3-5 years. He doesn't want to go to the expense of re-facing or stripping down and re-painting the substrate.

Is a flex face what they are putting on billboards now? I see some that look like a sheet of vinyl is applied to the face and some that look like a cover or "bag" covers it.

Wayne, I'v never seen a bag that big, but you can get bags from Creative Banner. They won't letter the bag. The real trick would be installing something that big. Vic G

Or you can try LA Graphics. They may have something that you may be able to use

They print banners that large, and you can strap it down with ratchet straps. You of course would need two...

They can be reached at 800-282-9047.

Wayne,
I just got some digitally printed banners made to cover existing signs. I had 8'x8' up to 4'x15'.

Call Outdoor America Images in Tampa Outdoor America

I thought their prices were really good and I made a great profit on that particular job.

I was just at Outdoor America's facility today to place an order for my own 8' X 56' billboard. I'm covering an old single wide trailer that i'm converting into additional shop space.

They seem to have it together as I got the nickle tour. And yes their prices are very good. Mine is being printed at 100 dpi, hemmed, grommets, for just under $600.00 My shop will be visible from the moon.

we do those (grand scale format printing). It's actually 6-color process, up to 18ft one way, and damn near infinite the other. Any computer file. (within reason.. not much I can do with MS Paint [Smile] )

I ordered such a "bag" to cover an electric sign at a car dealership that was going through a name/ownership change. I painted both sides and had grommetts put in along bottom so it could be tied snug, although my measurement was off and it was about a foot short. It was about an 8' x 16' give or take a foot. I ordered it from Best Buy Banner in Riverside CA 800-624-1691, and had it "enamel-coated to accept paint. It was up high (they installed) and was up for about 3mos.

Cool site! I used to run one of those Vutek Large format printers.. ahhh those were the days. I spent more time airbrushing them but they've come a long way since then!

One problem I have run into with Flex type sign covers is this: (actually, it is to my benifit) they get stolen!!! Yesterday Watkins Glen International Raceway called and needs a 12' x 36' billboard painted for Coors Light Beer before Tuesday. Yup!!! someone stole the 12'x36' Flex sign. In the past three years, I have painted (9) 12'x36' billboards that were stolen. The track thought the price for Flex signs was too good to pass up, but know are going back to the painted boards. Also, there is no comparison from a Flex sign to a painted sign. The painted sign placed next to the Flex sign shows the difference. No sub for paint!! And NO, I am not stealing them to get the work!!!!............may be paying someone to do it.....hahahaha!
The problem is the signs are at ground level and when it is dark and 180,000 people are there, it is hard to watch everything!
