Looked at a job to replace two backlit plastic faces and when I do the job I want to replace the bulbs while I'm in there. I got this info from the sign that listed the bulb type and wanted a heads up on them before I open the cabinet up to replace the faces, that way I can knock it out at one time.

Here's the bulb type: F-120-T-12 can you tell me about it?

Thanks,
Tony

Tony, most bulb numbers look like this:
F96T12CW/HO
F96 is 8 feet, Cool White, High Output

My guess is, you are looking for F120T12CW/HO because every sign cabinet I have ever seen uses High Output bulbs.

You will not find HO's at home stores like Home Depot. Out here, you can find the "easy" HO's at an electrical supply house. You will pay retail unless you show a contractor's license, but they will sell you just one or two bulbs if they have them.

If you go to most electrical sign supply shops, they will only sell you a box of 6 or 12. Hopefully you will be able to call around and find a supplier who will sell you just one or two. I used to get two at a time from Montroy Supply in Concord CA.

Flo tubes tend not to burn out like incandescent lamps. Flo tubes just get dimmer and dimmer with age while burning the same amount of electricity. The extra power goes into heat. If there is a black ring aroung the end of the tube, change it even if it is still lighting.

Hope this helps. Vic G

F12O T 12 IS A 120 INCH BULB, HERE IN MICHIGAN YOU CAN ONLY GET
THAT SIZE BULB FROM A SIGN SUPPLY HOUSE ONLY. LOCAL ELECTRIC SUPPLY
HOUSES DO NOT CARRY THAT SIZE BULB.

I THINK I HAVE THAT SIZE BULB IN STOCK I WILL CHECK IN THE MORNING,

ONE THING YOU NEED TO CHECK IS HOW SIGN IS MOUNTED !
IF POLE RUNS DOWN THE MIDDLE THEN THE BULBS RUN VERTICAL IF MOUNTED
ON EACH END OR TO A WALL THEN BULBS ARE PROB. 120"
IF IT WAS ME I WOULD OPEN IT UP A SEE BEFORE YOU BUY THE BULBS
AS 120'' BULB WILL RUN AROUND 25 BUCKS EACH !! (WHOLESALE)
