So let me see if I've got this right.
Your customer calls you at 5pm (closing time for most businesses), and would expect you to work into the night to get a sketch to them by 9am (opening time for most businesses) ... without giving you a deposit first. For this they promise to give you the job?
And so now, you are asking us to partake of this craziness with you?
Sorry Glenn. Many of us have learned better. I don't do that for my own customers. Consequently, I've significantly curbed my intake for "unreasonable customers with unreasonable requests".
Incidentally, I make a habit of doing my own work with a deposit first.
I do sincerely wish you luck with the job tho. Good night. Janette

What Style/Type of bridge would you like....??
Or will a simple generic bridge be acceptable.....???
Do you want a bridge with or without figures/people/vehicles/etc. on it....or will a stand-alone unit suffice.......??
Will need more specifics before searching my extensive morgue.....!!
...........cj
PS......If you could convey the approximate size of bridge needed, it would save me several hours of work..........Thanks!!

I don't know, but I've been told that there is a pix of a bridge in this movie. You could always use a video capture card and save it then convert it to a vector art. Just a suggestion HA!HA!

say what? You want bridge clipart? "If you believe that have I got a bridge to sell ya"
Does anyone know why people say that?
Posted by Bruce Bowers (Member # 892) on :
Yes, Doug...
It is reference to scam artists selling the rights to the Brooklyn bridge in the early 1900's. People were just as stupid and gullible back then. LOL!
Have a great one!

Hi Glenn, I tend to side with Janette on this one. Sometimes, you have to establish ground rules with certain customers. In this case, you have to be honest with the guy and suggest he needs to be reasonable with his demands. Pressure has nothing to do with this project. He is jerking you around and you are letting him. When he asks, you need to tell him you need a few days to do a nice layout, find or design artwork, and also that you need a reasonable deposit for that time. With the deposit in hand and time to do it, I am sure you can put your best foot forward on the project and present him with something both of you can be proud of. It is hard to design under pressure, and it sounded like you were under it by your post.
Besides the copyright issue on clip art, your request was totally unworkable. Go back and read it for yourself and try to determine if you have any clue what kind of bridge you needed for this project? I suspect there are numerous bridges shown in a Corel image catalog without asking. Golden Gate Bridge? London Bridge?
Don't take this post wrong. I am not jumping on you here at all. You just didn't give anyone here much to work with, nor time to even help you. We have all been in the place you are right now. A little word of advice can sometimes be helpful when you let yourself get backed into a corner without realizing it. Good luck on your project.

Glenn, take this to heart . . .. and live by it !!! I've significantly curbed my intake for "unreasonable customers with unreasonable requests". My only question is this . .. . .you may get a $100.00 for the drawing/proof. Do you have ANY intentions of sharing that pot o gold with the person that helps you out of the hole you are about to dig for yourself ??? Just a wonderin
