Under certain circumstances,
Photoshop 7.0 can create a text layer that is written incorrectly
into a PSD, TIFF, or PDF file. When trying to open a file saved
with this kind of text layer, Photoshop will report the following
error message: "A problem was encountered reading layer "xxx"
because the layer is not a valid text layer. The existing pixel
data will be used instead. Continue?"

Adobe has posted an important fix for Photoshop 7 on URL :

• for Mac OS 9.1, 9.2, or Mac OS X v.10.1.3

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1545

• for Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows
Millennium Edition, Windows NT with Service Pack 6a, Windows 2000
with Service Pack 2, or Windows XP :

Dropping affected files onto the Type Repair Droplet will repair the
flaw and allow Photoshop 7.0 to open the files without rasterizing
text layers.

Place the Type Repair Droplet in a convenient place on your
hard drive, then drag affected PSD, TIFF, or non-password-protected
Photoshop PDF files onto the Droplet to repair them. Repaired
files should then open successfully in Photoshop 7.0.

This utility has been tested with English, French, German, and Japanese versions of Adobe Photoshop 7.0, but it has not been translated into languages other than English.

Regards

Philippe JACQUES
