Does anyone here use Macromedia Apps. for design. I just got Macromedia Studio MX, and was pleasantly suprised to see that Fireworks was allot like Photoshop, and Freehand is allot like Illustrator. I really only bought if for Dreamweaver MX and Flash MX, so the vector and bitmap editors were a nice bonus. Is anyone familier with these?

Freehand was our first design package 12 years ago and is still our primary package. Great program with exceptional text handling - which is important to us because of the plaque and nameplate side of our business.

I use Freehand for flash graphics, plus it has text preview which Illustrator does not, (my only Illustrator complaint) Fireworks has some cool effects as well, I think I remember an article that Dan Antonelli did in Signcraft on using Fireworks for better presentations, showing dimension and detail.

Adobe has published an in-depth (7 pages) report at this purpose : http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/pdfs/freehand.pdf

We're strictly Macromedia here - Fireworks, Dreamweaver - and of course, Freehand, which I've been using for over 10 years. Great tools!

Been in this for too long, but Freehand is the Fisher-Price version of Illustrator. Rounded corners, smooth interfaces, can't poke your eye out feel... Illustrator for 15 years... Man that makes me feel old... and I still have my original Illustrator 88 installation diskettes....
