2 questions... Is this available in Canada? 2nd Question... are the bugs out of Omega yet?

Neil,

Answer One: Don’t know? I actually thought about that when I was cut & pasting. Hey Mr. Aston, can you shed any light on the subject?

Answer Two: Yea, right!! [Wink] It’s software, for whatever reason consumers set the precedent many moons ago to accept “bugs” in their software. It will be a long time, if ever, when “bug free” software arrives to the consumer market. Some vendors are just more offensive then others. Besides what you call a “bug” I may call a design flaw and the programmer calls it an “addressable” product enhancement. Same issue, three definitions; who’s right?!

Seriously, version 1.56 is more stable and robust then 1.54. And of course 1.54 was better then 1.53. And 1.53… Figure the circle out yet? For Edge based output I currently recommend Omega, for what ever it’s worth.

Someday we will all be as smart as Old Paint and run Corel 7 for everything. In fact, I’m trying to figure out how to balance my books with CD 7 right now while editing some video footage. - -

Neil, you still won't be able to anchor your image while you design over top of it. Hopefully we'll see that in the next iteration. It will probably be addressed with the "layers" issue. I hope so because we've been doing a lot more of that ourselves and we have to use "other software" whenever we're working with an image as our backdrop.

Hi Neil,

I waited and waited before upgrading from GA 6.0 Premier to Omega 1.54, finally took the plunge found things a little different, and took a little time to adjust to the differences.

I had the Beta 1.56 for awhile and now have the released 1.56 build 19, and i think there has been alot of work behind the scenes to make this a reliable and good software setup. I know nothing about Corel, I have Signlab E6 but use my Omega for just about everything, especially having just bought an Edge.

I think this sounds like a great deal, for those that are nervous, you can use your GA and learn Omega at the same time for not much more than the upgrade price.

Awhile after I got Omega, I wanted my GA back...(not so good at adapting to changes under enormous work pressure!). However today I wouldn't dream of changing, its advantages far outweigh the small learning curve.

I think alot of "bugs" are often of our own making, many "problems" I might have had over the years are often "operator error". That said no software package is perfect. [Smile]

I'm curious how the heck people who have recently purchased Omega get a newer version than an existing customer?

I wouldn't think it's real difficult to mail out a CD.

Well l have Graphix Advantage 6 Premier and was told $900 upgrade from Hyatt's.
I was still holding out for Signlab's supposed Edge module but they are not talking much.
It wouldn't be a tough transition for me to Omega since I never got the hang of GA anyways. Still, $900 is a tough one to swallow given the limited Edge work that I do now.

Bruce,

My understanding is that the newest release was sent to beta testers and "Support First" customers first and then to everyone else.

Well Right now I'm running 3 Graphix Advantage 6.21 stations, back in Early may I purchased Omega, and I gave it a couple of months on the system until I just could'nt take it any longer, so I had to go back to 6.21. We really need to be able to lock images, and without that feature it is useless. Also when you save down to 6.2 and try to work that file in 6.2 it is so slow, I don't know what it does to the file but somehow it makes it sluggish, when you have a bitmap image within the file.
