Hi Heads,

We had another meeting this past Sunday for the Route 66 Firecracker meet July 11, 12, 13.

Bill Diaz brought a scale elevation of the wall sign painting that will be the main event of the meet.

The wall sign will be 10.5 feet tall by 70 feet long. Sorry, don't have a photo to post of the sketch just yet.

We have about 15 registered right now including bullboard celebrities such as Pat King and Steve Estes.

We will have an entire street blocked off in front of the mural and a panel jam going on inside the building we are painting on. We will have some demo's lined up, just depends how hard we have to push to finish the wall sign, which is top priority.

Illinois weather has been incredibly hot and the afternoon sun hits this wall square on. This may be a factor as we are using latex paints for the sign, a real break from traditional sign painting.

We feel we can pull off a sign job that will last minimum 10 years with a range to possibly 15 years. We are confident oil base paints can not make it past the 5 year mark in outdoor signage.

This meet will open your eyes to the ins and outs and pros and cons of using 100% acrylic latex house paints for exterior sign applications.

Bring your fitches. Small fitches for the intricate details and some 3 inch house painting brushes for the fill in areas. Bring your regular sign brushes for some panel jaming.

The bottom of the sign will be 5 feet off the side walk. Then another 10.5 feet up the wall.
If you have some fear of working on scaffold, then the panel jam is for you! [Smile]

The meet is FREE. The first 30 to register get FREE food! There are some great little old ladies baking pies and cakes and cookies for all registered Letterheads to enjoy.

After this meet is over, we start planning for a huge Letterhead / Pinhead / Walldog meet next year to paint the town...not joking!

This year's meet is to test the water, solve problems, educate the town's folk to properly hold a beautiful meet year after year.

The little village of Atlanta, the place time forgot, with the original Route 66 running right through the middle of town, will be transformed by Letterheads over the next few years to look
like a small town U.S.A. circa 1900 to 1920's.

We hope you will attend. Check out the "Future Live Meets age on this Web Site. Its on the menu bar to the left of your screen 14 items down from the top.

If you have never been a part of a Letterhead meet, now is the time. If you have never painted a sign before, a really big sign on a wall especially, then come.

And if you have ever used latex paints to paint your home exterior or interior, then its not so much of a stretch to paint a sign the same way.

T-minus 17 days and counting! [Smile]
