My apologies to all Lettervillians of Italian origin - I'm just goofin' around.
Has anyone heard of a squeegee that has a felt bottom? Who makes them? Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

There's some kind of squeegie "cover" for squeegying digital prints.Can't remember who has em...probably GREGORY!

You could make one I'm sure but in case you want to sell them, or like to have someone else to blame if you do a bad squeegee job Mine says MACTAC on it.

We have a couple felt squeegees, but they're not just felt on the bottom. They are a hard felt and better than a quarter inch thick (I don't know how thick they'd be in Canada.) They work better than a sleeve on easily scratched surfaces.

Rick- To me, they'd still be a quarter-inch. I only relate to the metric system when I'm driving (speed) or pouring (volume). Distance is still US in my head, as is just about anything else. There are some mathematical benefits to calculating in metric, but real-world usage is still pretty US up here.

One of the fellows who worked for us "invented" a squeegee made from a rubber bladed window squeegee. He wrapped the rubber piece with the cloth side of velcro tape. Looks and works better than it sounds. Didn't seem to scratch the vinyl. Vic G

I have a 12" steel wallpaper squeegee (the same one the Weber tape applicator come with - $3 at Home Depot). I have the cloth half of Velcro glued around the edge. I use this for applying transfer tape. Works great.

I would only add that velcro is a 'two-part system' (Canadian conversion available upon request), and that the preferred part is the one known as 'loop'. Might as well try to squeegee with a cat as use it's evil twin, 'hook'. Soften the bite of new ones with a couple strokes on a scotchbrite pad.
Black rubber window tinting squeegees are excellent for finishing any wet vinyl apps, are available in longer lengths, and if you put a handle on one, you can really torque it. I have beveled the end to a point for dealing with the tight spots of vent windows,etc. Teflon is also available in various lengths and slippery.

You can get the MACTAC felt squeegees at www.SSKY.com for $3 or $4, I use one all of the time and they also work good for corrougated plastic as a squeegee. They still seem to scratch unmasked vinyl sometimes so I use rubber window tint sgueegees I got from Wal-Mart for $2 and wet the unmasked vinyl with soap and water, no scratches ever. Then I roll over it with a wall paper roller for a finishing touch.

Hey Donna, I scanned my felt squeegee, but it's too ugly to post. Besides being cut in half from when a helper & I mounted 6' x 8' digital prints & cut it so we could do a 2 man application method, It also absorbs glue residue & kinda looks like an old sock. except square. I did follow the link above & using their search link at top of page found their $2.99 price for it. It was handy for me on un-masked digital prints & chrome films etc.
