Well the prayers have worked and Christian is actually scheduled to go home today from the hospital after a 24 day stay.

His 21 day cycle of meds have completed and the blood and spinal fluid tests have returned and show him completely free of the infection. Its truly a miracle story... he was on deaths door five times during his stay and we were told the outcome due to the amount of brain damage would be devastating. Then all your prayers came pouring in to our family.

Now I am happy to report that the tests look great although he will have to have home nursing care at least for the next six months. He'll continue his seizure medicine for about a year, and has now been 8 days seizure free. He'll still need physical therapy once a day, also.

But the continued good news....his eyes have been
exhaustively tested and have shown no sign of current damage at all. Which means his sight is appropriate for his age. And remember that he was blinded just last week with medically no hope for long term eye sight. Also his hearing has checked out at 100%.

The doctors met with us last night and walked into the room with smiles from ear to ear. They still can not medically explain how he is able to do the things he does...see, hear, move arms and legs, take a bottle (and attempt to hold on to it), and even trying to hold his head up on his own. They still say all these functions are controlled by the devastated portions of his brain. It's truly a blessing from God, and we could not have had such an experience if it were not for all you guys words of encouragement and continued prayers.

I know this is kinda wordy, so please bear with my excitement. Although his return home will have its own set of concerns for his continued medical care, we are so very happy for this day to come. The bills are already overwelming but God as showed us that he will provide us a way to cope.

My family and I once again send our love and thanks to each of you.

Stan McKinnon and family

Stan,

No need to apologize. You have earned the right to all the excitement you want to enjoy.

It sounds like you still have a lot of work and worry ahead, but as long as you have Christian, I'm sure it will all be worthwhile.

Hope you won't mind if we keep a few thoughts and prayers coming. With some of them simply saying THANKS!

Stan, Thanks for sharing your news; the sun just broke through the clouds as I was reading your post. My 3 year-old grandaughter, Paige, says "Give Christian a hug for me". We'll keep you and your family in our prayers.

Christian's home and doing great!

He slept a straight 7 hours last night in contrast of being awaken in the hospital every two hours to be poked and stuck. I guess he senses he is at home now.

Hey Stan-
Woo Hoo! I am sitting here with chills running over me. Every time I thought of it since I read your first post, I prayed for little Christian. I told other folks about him too.
I really believe in miracles, and not losing faith or giving up hope,
I know the little guy still has a long road ahead of him, but he's here, he's alive, and from the sounds of things, he's acting like a baby should. Thank God! Love- Jill
PS I'll still keep praying.

Great news!

And by the way...there isn't a thing OT(off topic) about your post. This site is about family as much as it is about signs.

Way late coming in on this, but I can appreciate how you must be feeling right about now. Know how I would feel if it was the little guy in the pic with me.

And Don called it right on the family situation(s) being on-topic.

In our thoughts at our house, too.

A second amen to what Don said!

I too am late gettin' in.

That's the wonderful think about our creator....He is never late but always on time! Praise God!

Ain't He great? Now, wouldn't it be nice for all of us to go back and say a short prayer of thanks. I'll just bet that He likes to hear from us in the good times as well as the bad.

Yea Raymond,

I couldnt agree with you more about God. He has taught me through my children that we should go to him with thanksgiving. Oh what sweet words to hear my children sincerely say "thanks dad".

Thanks for the reminder Raymond.
