My brother finally figured out why I do all my stuff so 'bent'. I love curves and casual lettering. And nothing I do is remotely level. I define it as cartoon architecture.
I was visiting him the other day and he asked how my back was of late. (I often suffer from chronic back pain) I told him that my chiropractor had recommended that I wear a wedge in one shoe... seems one of my legs is substancially shorter than the other, which may have been the cause for much of my suffering. (not to mention way too much heavy lifting)
My brother started to laugh... suddenly he understood why I can't draw a straight line or build anything level.
He says I'm 'half a bubble off level' and have been all my life. Explains EVERYTHING he says!
But it seems to be much too late to change how I do things.... no matter how big a wedge I wear in my shoe or how hard I try to do things 'STRAIGHT AND LEVEL'.
I was trying to do a 'serious sign' today with Helvetica lettering and everything. I was doing the project by hand (no patterns) I did use my very best level though. Those plastic ones bend real nice. The sign was sculpted concrete and 24 feet long. It was curved with about a 30' radius. Sure enough, when I stood back to admire my handywork... it was casual cartoon helvetica. And not too straight either
Some things will never change no matter what. But at least the wedge in my shoe seems to work. (on my back)

I too had chronic back pain from one shorter leg and have been using a heel wedge for 5 years.Without the wedge I would end up a the chiropactor at least 3 times a year.Got spurs dropped arches and back pain.Haven't had any pain for about 5 years now.

HHEHEHE. every body has one leg shorter than the other. Thats why you walk circles in the woods if you have nothing to referance too.
