About 3 weeks ago the Auto repair around the corner from us asked for a price on a sign.
We've been doing business for 13 or so years so I gave him the "most bang for the buck" 2'x16' .040 aluminum sign for $375. plus install and permit(probably will be around $500. when all the numbers are in).
When I gave it to him, he sucked all the oxygen out of the room and I left thinking I would never hear from him again.
Well as fate would have it my truck overheated yeaterday and I took it in to him to look at ...turned out I had a cracked radiator and a leaking waterpump...so I had him take care of it and decided to tune up the truck at the same time ..."well why not change the oil and check the air conditioner while yer at it"...to make a long story short the bill came to $493.00.
Now it was my turn to suck the air out of the room...but at least I gave him the work!
When I'm ready top pay the bill the guys wife walks out with my sketch from 3 weeks back and says "I saw your truck in the service bay and told the hubby we should ask if you want to trade out"
What do you suppose I said?...remember I'm crazy ...not stupid!

Monte, I've swapped sign jobs for truck repairs, welding, lawn spraying, landscaping, cabinet work, shop rent and more. I just did signs for a new Line-X here and as part of my bill, he's gonna spray the bed of my pickup this week. Just cost me a little labor.
P.S. ya going to Cowtown meet???

Nice trade!
I assume you are both honest and will pay the sales tax on both jobs!

In 1994 I did a sign for a lawyer and the bill came to $604.00. A year later I used him for a divorce and his bill came to $604.00. Do you think he may have planned it that way? hhmnm

A long time ago we didn't need health insurance, we had a doctor that would trade out office visits for pizza (my family owns a pizza shop). No such luck anymore.
